The Ice Cream Man - 6/10
Creepy Clint Howard trolls the streets of suburbia for the secret ingredients to his homemade ice cream. It really should've been a lot more fun than it was. One of many so bad it's almost good comedy-tinged b-horror flicks from the '90s. |

Re-watched Evil Dead for the 10,000th time, I'd give it a solid 8/10 but probably purely out of the fact that it's a classic as well as for the sake of nostalgia.

And yeah I quit reading It before I got to that scene, but my husband described it to me. He was a big Stephen King fan when we met - he was 23 then. I told him to never say that out loud in front of any of my family or friends and gave him The Catcher in the Rye for his birthday because I'm an insecure socially aspirational coward like that I read an article about It that really resonated with me...I might have even come across it here... https://www.newyorker.com/culture/cu...ephen-kings-it |

Peter and the Farm: 3.5/5
Really cool documentary. Directed by Tony Stone, who I recently found out, happens to be Melissa Auf der Maur's husband. Huh. |

Evil Dead is p cool.
I even liked the dumb remake that came out a few years ago. Some of that imagery stuck with me. Yuck. |

Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman - 4/10
Freezer-burnt sequel has all the production value of a turn-of-the-century Comedy Central sitcom without even a fraction of the wit. Still, watching little snowball Gremlins wreak havoc on a tropical island resort is worth seeing at least once. |

Actually didn't hate it either, even ended up liking some scenes which hardly ever happens with me and remakes. Slightly unrelated and not even sure if this counts as a remake, but Rings was honestly one of the worst attempts at trying to revive a dead franchise ever.

Rings. LOL. Every time Johnny Galecki was on screen I expected a sitcom laugh track.
What an abomination. Fuck Rings. |

Oh god yes. Rings is really bad. Though it wasn't as outright bad as I expected from the trailer.
It was mostly just really boring and uninteresting. The ending "twist" was beyond stupid tho Sadako vs. Kayako was way better (but also not good) |

So is The Others. 2001, starting Nicole Kidman. It's not very scary, but it's still a great film.

The last Jedi
B- I feel like I got enough movie magic for the price of the ticket, but have they just given up on dialogue at this point ? Is it just part of the franchise to sabotage every scene with terrible dialogue. Because there's not much scene to begin with, so then we're just left with cheap punchlines and special effects. Which is a solid B- in a film of this scale. So that's fine, I'll keep turning up with my soda and popcorn. Also, well done making Kylo Ren hot. There's a whole new audience who are going to turn up just to see what happens next with Kylo Ren. So that's clever. Somebody's been watching Jane the Virgin or some other telenovela. Oohhhh Kylo Ren is so bad, but so broken. He wants to be good but HIS PAIN IS TOO BIG REY CAN YOU SAVE HIM WITH YOUR PURITY YOU'RE SO GOOD AND HE'S SO BAD SAVE HIM SAVE HIM This film had a stupid story arc, also. Rogue One continues to be the vixnix #1 |

I'd love for Rey to turn out to be gay and fanboys all over the world have massive meltdowns.

She must surely have as many fan girls as fan boys.
Well, maybe not could they not have picked somebody with a martial arts background. it's kind of hard suspending my disbelief watching this girl move. surely there was one fucking actress who could look like she possessed universe-saving purity and could actually fight. Some of those Jedi island scenes really ruined my experience tbh many things did. but then like chewy and the fucking porgs OMG movie is instantly redeemed |

Don't really think Star Wars needed all these additions, the trilogy was amazing and they should've left it at that. Yeah the newest ones are better than the prequels, but overall they honestly aren't that good. Really just want the industry to start making new films and experimenting moreso with new concepts. I'm so over all of the sequels and leeching off of already successful movies, end it while it's still on top and let it keep it's integrity.

But studios aren't in the business of integrity, they are in the business of making money.
And despite a lot of people saying they want fresh interesting ideas they really only come out in huge numbers for brands they recognize. |

There's still interesting and unique movies being made outside the blockbuster circuit tho. They just take a little more digging to find.

Yeah I guess so but it honestly sucks, because I genuinely believe that the industry had some form of integrity and/or passion at one point. For me especially the past 3-4 years I've just found myself going out and watching a movie less and less. It's always a sequel or the same trope that's already been beaten to death, and I'm so tired of it. Like you said before though I do need to start getting into more underground films. From the few I've watched I've actually been fairly impressed, any recommendations?

The Fly : 9/10
Watching it for the 3rd time, or something. Jeff Goldblum! Fuck yeah. This movie is amazing. (Also, What We Do In The Shadows I'd consider more of a comedy) |

Watched both Home Alones awhile ago. I'm in the vast minority about this, but I actually enjoyed the 2nd one more. Had the funnier, more sensational moments, even if it was basically an exact retread of the first. And I mean, it had this
Bonus points for the Donald Trump cameo. I had no recollection of that at all! Definitely a classic franchise at this point. |

I can handle the first two.
That hotel scene where he just plays that movie to scare everyone always cracks me up. They fucked up so bad with the ones that came later though. |
