really good interview (?) i guess it makes sense Kevin is a Pumpkins fan (or at least SD, which is the only album he actually mentions during this whole thing, lol) & Corgan gave some insightful responses - naturally, he was talking to a famous person after all!
main thing they didn't really discuss that i suppose could have made for an interesting extension would be the parallels between Tame's Currents & SP's Adore, they touched on sound changes & whatnot vaguely but i feel like that would have been a potentially good talking point, if only to get more album-specific stories out of the two |

Ironically enough, if Kevin Parker had asked those questions on IG he probably would've been met with a zombie gif. Or a block.

lol.....
Corgan: We’ll put that quote on the album. I’m still chasing it. On our new record, the songs that have just come out, I’m still chasing that feeling. Maybe that’s part of it, I can never quite get there. It takes a lot of time, a lot of studio guile to figure out how to put those pieces together. There’s tracks with tons of guitars. I just go and go and go until it got close to what I heard in my head." in this interview with kevin parker from tame impala one could have the impression that side 2 of CYR is full of guitar tracks |

Have a think about how a discussion between peers is different to "Why can't you just do thing you did 25 years ago"

What if Parker had asked "would you make another album that sounds like SD?"

I know that people still ask him to do something that sounds like Siamese Dream again, and it is a stupid request to make, but fans who aren't making that request also get blocked and called zombies by Billy just for saying that they love the album

I think the amount of people asking for a Siamese Dream 2 is routinely exaggerated by WPC. Their biggest hits ever, 1979 and Tonight Tonight, aren’t really about guitars. It’s just an excuse to get at people asking questions he doesn’t like.

Just more insecure crap from Billy, he actually thinks that because he sold some records that he's superior to people, which he obviously isn't. Nevermind the fact that without the band, producers, engineers, and the era he would be nowhere with that sorry attitude

well we've known he's always had that attitude. In the 90's he was constantly putting down other bands and saying that SP was writing songs on a higher level (and ok that was true for a spell), and Pajo said that Billy always referred to bands of the time like The Strokes and White Stripes as "little bands".

Yeah, I always looked at that as snobby. It's just another thing to think you're the chosen one and actually better than other people just because you made some good music. I always took the other stuff to be typical professional jealousy.

"BILLY CORGAN: I was very familiar with all the David Lee Roth-era albums through 1984, but when I prepared for this interview, I listened to everything so my questions wouldn't be just about the past." -GW 1996 If that were Tame Impala Guy, he'd be like "OMG you're my IDOL, Eddie. My brother gave me 1984 and I LOVED IT. Have you ever thought of remaking 1984?". It was clear he hadn't paid attention to anything Billy's said or done in the last 20 years. In contrast, Billy complemented Tame Impala's latest work. |

I don't get how this interview was even possible. He would have banned Parker the moment he mentioned SD
