Violence erupts at unauthorized Year Zero listening party
Violence erupts at unauthorized Year Zero listening party
By Mike Cottell DETROIT (Reuters) - If the ugly scenes witnessed in Detroit are anything to go by, the unattractive face of government oppression has come snarling back to life. Nine Inch Nails fans clashed with baton-wielding riot police during a listening party for the band's new album, "Year Zero" in Detroit this afternoon. The United States Bureau of Morality ordered that the event be shut down due to a lack of proper permits and accusations that the record contained lyrics that were "unpatriotic and liable to cause distrust of government authority". Video and photographs taken by fans at the event showed riot police storming the auditorium and attacking the crowd with batons and pepper balls. Individuals present at the event say that they were given no warning before the attack began. Last edited by Warsaw : 04-07-2007 at 05:23 AM. |

yeah does that actually exist? if so, why the fuck were they screwing around at a NIN gathering when they should've been busting Billy Corgan's morally bankrupt ass after the James Iha announcement?

i kind of enjoyed peaches on our tour stop. she took off into the crowd in her underwear with obese security guards chasing after her and trying to keep up. at one point she climbed on a railing and some fat crying girl had to be held back from touching her by two security members. it was the best freak show i'd seen in ages. Bauhaus had really poor sound quality at our show we couldn't make out a single word being said. NIN was ok. |

I got lost and missed Peaches
I thought Bauhaus were really sweet, and they played Bela Lugosi (I'd never heard anything from them before) NIN were amazing, but I wish they'd played more than 100 minutes. The previous show I saw them do was almost a half hour longer. |

Bauhaus put on a pretty sweet stage show so that made up for the lack of discernible music in general from them. I was put off by the electric curtain NIN used for their show, it reminded me too much of the future embrace screen (on a grander scale) and i was generally disinterested. They sounded great but aside from Trent, i don't think anyone else in the band was really into it that much. i think they closed the show on closer (or some song right into closer) and the crowd went wild. Absolutely fucking APESHIT!

i must have been thinking of head like a hole then. i saw it in July at SPAC. i don't know why i thought it was closer, i guess i must just be retarded. i never would have remember if it was july or not, i just know it was the summer.
though, from the looks of that set, i think i'd have much rather seen a February show. |

Man, February looks great with Mr. Self Destruct, Eraser, BYIT, and The Wretched. But I would kill to see them perform La Mer > Into the Void.

i saw them play last summer at nissan pavilion in bristow, va (located outside of washington dc where the land is cheaper). The crowd was at about 25% capacity for the venue, but the band played a decent show. They coulda played with more energy, but I can't complain. The tickets were free... I think a lot of people there had free tickets actually. Is this common for NIN shows these days? Seems like they lost money that night.

i was at that show, it definitely wasn't packed but that's what you get for touring the same cities over and over and always booking huge venues. no chance in hell they lost money though... there were thousands of people buying tshirts, albums, food, drinks... all this on top of tickets.
