She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: Season 2

Solid job expanding on Season 1. Characters are developing nicely and despite the season only having seven episodes, most of the characters were given a chance to shine. I loved Scorpia' s attempts to get closer to Catra; she's so loveable and dorky (and a better friend than most people deserve). Still only scratching the surface of the Masters of the Universe mythos, but all indications seem to be that will change in the seasons to come. Catra and Adora's rivalry took something of a backseat this season to give other characters a chance to contribute but their conflict is still definitely the backbone of the show. A few of the episodes felt really heavy-handed with the euphemisms to accepting someone for who they are (especially the finale, which was as subtle as a sledgehammer). One or two of the episodes felt like recycled plots from season 1 episodes (the worst offender being Episode 5). Episodes 2, 4 and 6 were the best. Ep. 6 in particular was a strong offering. Poor Catra.

Season 2 shares Season 1's flaw of ending just when the overall narrative seems to start hitting its stride. Bummer.

A solid, flawed season that was too short. Can't wait for more magical disaster lesbian fun.

B+

Red face

Endgame absolutely blew me away, A or A- at worst

I can't remember completely loving any of these films — maybe the first Avengers, and Winter Soldier — but this one hit me hard and really, really worked

I wasn't expecting much after Infinity War felt kind of boring to me, but man alive, I was consistently amazed by the storytelling decisions they made here

Eighth Grade was good.

I felt so bad for the main character (and her dad, poor dude) a few times, even visibly cringing, and I can't help but see this as a glimpse into what world V will be going through in a few years and I just want to die.

Arctic. Joe Penna. 2018

Shot on a glacier in Iceland plus Mikkelsen sold it to me already (thanks Hobbit!), but I was skeptical
what would happen when YouTube's MysteryGuitarMan (Joe Penna) goes into film directing.
To my surprise, it's petty good for a debut feature film.
7/10

A tiny handful of overplayed elements but overall very enjoyable

I just saw captain marvel, there's a mellon collie poster in one scene, awkward

the movie is cute, I guess I would love it if I was a kid
I just watched it so I could watch endgame, and, well, I guess there was no need to... It is way better than Antman and the Wasp though, so there's that
