when was the last time a new band made you feel genuinely excited about music? by new i mean c.2013. kind of a serious thread, because i haven't felt like that for awhile myself.

there were a few albums from 2013 that got me pretty excited but mostly from bands I was already into. People are all about Deafheaven and I thought their album was really good, but the kind of music they play is a little bit on the fringe of my tastes and I don't necessarily think it's something I will keep coming back to in years to come.

I'm not even sure when the last time was I heard something totally new and felt really pumped about it

yeah I am afraid it has to do with getting to a certain age and it being more difficult to find new music that connects the same way as when we were younger. I always thought I would avoid this because I like music from many different eras, but maybe that's not how it works.

When I was in high school I thought I hated basically everything new and that most good music dried up at the end of the 90s, so I rejected new music without giving it a chance. Then I finally realized the 2000s had a ton of great bands and I had a period of prolific musical discovery. Now, I keep looking for new stuff to turn me on but I can't find anything that I think is as good as the bands I like from last decade

When MBV's new album came out.

I've been trying to listen to more music released roughly within the last decade. I've gotten into Deerhunter and Danny Brown so I guess when they release another album I'll be quite excited about that

new deerhunter is oaky, there's some goo stuff on there i would suggest starting with Microcastle & Halcyon Digest. I'd listen to digest first but purists would probably say Microcastle

great band live though holy balls like omg if you like noise jamming you'll probably get a huge erection
