You can upload video to the Internet Archive, but there isn't a cataloguing system like there is for the live music archive. Note that the taping policy explicitly permits it too.

There is nothing to stop people uploading live pumpkins video to Archive.org, it's just that it isn't indexed like audio is.

not 100% but I think this is sort of frowned upon by the archive staff

I think they are quite happy to have any quality content, there is a subsection for music-related video content that already contains some poorly indexed SP video.

Not sure who maintains the LMA, but if we can find out who to speak to it would be great to put forward the suggestion for video support. It would be amazing if we could get all our SP video archived properly.

SP permits it, the Internet Archive permits it, it just needs the structure offered by the LMA.

Edit: I wish we could get SPLRA back online, that wiki was invaluable.

So I dunno if anyone can solve this problem but:

I downloaded the Brixton DVD torrent. When I open the VIDEO_TS folder in VLC, it plays the first 40 seconds then stops. Tried to rip with Handbrake, same thing - only converts the first 40 seconds while still recognizing it's a 1:30 hour long video

I open it with MPEG Streamclip, it fixes the timecode breaks, to some success. The resulting file plays for 1:27 - every 3 minutes or so, it skips ahead like 5 seconds in the file. Annoying as hell

I've used the latter for merging VOBs together when virtualdub won't read them beyond a certain point........
