I've never understood the appeal of Filter.

I picked up Short Bus a year or 2 ago for like a buck and was excited to check it out because I've always kind of liked Hey man but you ain't lying... Just terrible songwriting. Listened to it once all the way through and never again... Not even 1 song that I wanted to go back and check out for a lick or melody.

I also downloaded the album with Picture on it before and that was also pretty lame to me.

Oh, and their new shit is laughingly bad too. Heard a few tracks posted on an interview... Richard patrick: what a hack.

Fly is one of the songs that comes on during an awful pop-music loop at my work and I'm always happy to hear it.

The loop they play features all the safe, super lame shit. I hear about 5-8 Taylor Swift songs a day.

But amongst the load of crap, heres a few I'm always happy to hear:

Sugar Ray- Fly
Gin Blossoms- Hear it from you
Gin Blossoms- Josie
Gin Blossoms- follow you down
Goo Goo Dolls- Name
Rob Thomas -Ever the same
Lifehouse- You and me

The rest is all very poppy, very current crap. I'm talking 1 direction, Swift, that Happy song etc... Not sure how that handful of oldies found their way in there.

i liked short bus because it was the first time i heard what i thought was a homemade or underground album. i couldn't wrap my head around how that sound could only be made by two guys in a crash pad. for the first time i realized you didn't have to have a band to make band music.

downward spiral, on the other hand, was still too musically complex for me to even begin to try to deconstruct in that way. i still don't understand the relationships between sequencers and samplers and synths in a way where i can hear the album and know what's going on and how the sounds are being made.

I don't know about that but Moon was their last album as the "classic trio" before they expanded.

i thought everything after "moon" got weaker and weaker

those first 2 albums and the comp are perfect - moon and antarctica just topped it off

I agree, those first three are just amazing but I also think We Were Dead is pretty good too.

Good News has some really great songs as well but that's my least favorite album as a whole.

good news was the first i ever got by them, on the year of release even, so i could never call it the "weakest"

plus - float on, ocean breathes salty, bury me with it, dancehall, the view, good times are killing me, one chance, world at large

all awesome songs to me

better than radiohead? not a chance but there were definitely other "important" albums etc. so whateva!

I don't really care for Radiohead.
I listened to their stuff at various points in my life but never got what the fuss was about.

That's cool...Ocean Breathes Salty and The View are def my favs from that album.

I don't like the pointless interludes and some of the songs are forgettable to me.

By the way, I've Got It All (Most) was from that session...I like it more than some of the album cuts.

I imagine he's making a lot more money as a member of Bush then he ever did with Helmet. It's a smart move financially.

Chris Traynor was a hired gun in Helmet. He didn't play on any of the records that mattered. Therefore, nobody should really give a shit whose bush he plays in.
