Anything he says in regards to new projects should be taken with a big grain of salt. Kind of like how Robert Smith has promised the Wish deluxe edition, Live at Orange DVD, among other things for the past 12 years. Will believe it when I see it.

Yes it is/was a thing. It was a quick drop D tuner or lever that bands used for a while in the mid 90s. Not really sure why though.
It isn't hard to drop D live or tune back up to E.

Just more gear bullshit that wasn't that great.

No I don't think so. There's the EVH (god bless his soul) D-Tuna but that fits to the bridge, floyd rose I think.

On topic it's going to be the conclusion of the MCIS / Machina trilogy isn't it?

i think we are better off discussing zombie gear minutiae than pretending these will ever come out or be good or make coherent sense

yeah i've seen the EVH pullout thing on the bridge, never seen anything like what corgan had. hipshot seems spot on. i vaguely sort of want one but shit, i don't know anything about guitar and i can tune down to D and back up by ear now

The MCIS/Machina sequel is definitely coming out and is going to be 100% a cappella.

Mellon Collie/Machina sequel will be worse because it is a sequel to two albums loved by fans. Everyone will be comparing the sequel album to them.

Isn't CYR supposed to be the direct sequel to MCIS? Too much WPC bullshit to keep up with, I suppose.

As for the lever in the video, He probably used it to not have the audience listen to him tuning the guitar every time he needed to. Maybe just for the videotaped concerts.

Most SP albums are direct sequels to MCIS until they aren't

Now people, that was a long and brutal day…

Welcome back to the broken dollhouse that is "Monuments To An Elegy" (or Melon Collie and the Second Sadness as we are want to name it, but silently). We took a few days off, to rest and clear our heads, with the idea that we’d be ready to rock anew with this fresh start. Makes some sense, right?

Well, after a short sprint thought ‘SOLARA’ (the second bullet in a butterfly barreled gun, if you will), team Howard was prepped; save for confusion over how many songs were actually in the STAR pile. Jeff and I claimed 26 (minus those COUGARED), HW said 25. Much counting ensued! Time was wasted. And after 20 minutes of counts-recounts and hanging chads, a solution was found: one title having been counted twice between its two iterations. Oy vey!

It's a d-tuner. He had them on multiple guitars if I recall correctly. In that awesome Bat-Strat thread a few years back I think it showed he had one on that as well.

Is Cyr Shiny 3? Or is that the rock opera?

Cyr would’ve been Shiny V2 but in an unprecedented move from WPC, it seems that Shiny has been abandoned and the album is simply called Cyr.

The rock opera is V3 of, and the long awaited conclusion of, the famous MCIS/Machina/33 trilogy.

Then there’s the 10 track “psych” album, which was expected to be Shiny V3. It’s 75% finished but they’ve stopped working on it and will finish it when the rock opera is finished / haha what no this is never coming out.

So actually shiny 2 is called cyr now.

After that we oughta get shiny vol.3(isnt this to be heavy psychedelic?)
Or machina reissue, or the rock opera which should be the sequel to mcis/machina, correct???

If it doesn't say "Shiny and Oh So Bright Volume 2: Cyr" on the cover then it's an album within an album within a greatest hits tour as far as I'm concerned

I think they're coming out in this order:

Machina (being mixed)
MCIS/Machina sequel (being recorded)
Shiny V3/"Psych album" (75% complete but they've stopped working on it until the sequel album is done)

There's anniversaries and tours planned for MCIS/Machina/Sequel too and maybe they'll want the album releases to coincide which would make this almost a 10 year plan so of course none of this is going to happen.
