While there have been protests the last couple of days at the white house and National Mall, only two blocks from my house, I've avoided going. Even though I feel a responsibility to. But i'm more afraid of COVID-19.

Back in my hometown last night white people showed up at a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest and started attacking cops, destroying property and lighting fires. Despite two days of peaceful protests led by people of color the local news reported that BLM protestors turned violent.

I have friends who were at rallies yesterday in half a dozen States and every one of them posted pics and comments to social media since then detailing how white people showed up late in the protest to start fighting with police and destroying property.

I know two people who were beaten and pepper sprayed by cops yesterday.

Here in DC they brought in National Guard soldiers by the truckload. Soldiers were positioned on the street in front of my building last night.

This Isn’t a Few Bad Apples. The Police Are Rotten to the Core.

People in Michigan protesting Floyd’s murder and centuries of state-backed violence against black folks were met with chemical munitions liberally fired off by police. What a difference from how the cops behaved one month ago, when gun-toting white folks who stormed the Michigan statehouse because they wanted haircuts weren’t given so much as a citation.

Cops are rioting all over this country right now, again using militarized police violence to retaliate against people for daring to decry militarized police violence, and then suggesting the response is how the violence all began. These brutalities by police in recent weeks—the Floyd lynching, the murder of Breona Taylor, the Tony McDade killing, and now the rubber bullets, teargas, batons, fists and vehicular assaults—are both inhumane and familiar.

Two acquaintances were rubber bulleted (that's a verb) in Chicago, both media.

My beloved neighbor in Chicago, homicide detective, is put on disciplinary leave after a cop recognised her at a protest (she was off duty).

But in all seriousness, actual tangible laws have to change in order to stop police abuses of power (that anyone can fall victim to, but ethnic minorities are disproportionately targeted by). Even when cops are suspended or fired, it's not rare for them to be rehired by a neighbouring county and given back pay as soon as the news cycle forgets about them and the public scrutiny is off. And many won't even get to the point where there jobs are lost, either, much less get criminal convictions for what's literally murder.

They deployed the National Guard again tonight in DC. Truck loads of them a couple blocks form my house.

Drove through Georgetown earlier. All the bougie shops had crews trying to board up the windows.

I hope trump has to stay in that basement bunker till January 21.

White agent provocateurs and white supremacists groups are in Minneapolis/St. Paul from out of state starting fires, smashing windows and engaging in other forms of property damage. Yes, of course some locals are doing so as well but what you see in the news is not coming from the peaceful protests that have been happening for 6 days. Many vehicles with out of state plates or plates REMOVED have been seen around by myself and people I trust. These people do not care about justice for Mr. Floyd or holding cops accountable. They are here to incite violence and hate. Governor Walz and Attorney General Ellison have acknowledged this. My friends and I have witnessed it first hand in our communities. Protests have been peaceful during the day but the agitators infiltrate at night. There are also teenagers driving in from the suburbs, out state or Wisconsin to break and steal whatever they want while people are distracted.

The 3 other officers need to be charged and arrested as well. I want to see all 4 convicted. I also want to see Chauvin assigned to general population but unfortunately that would not happen in a million years.

This is just one of many examples. More will come out. Thanks for starting this Sofi. I didn't feel like posting a ton of stuff here on my phone over the weekend but I've been lighting up discord. Back at a computer today. I have been voting for Keith Ellison since he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2003. Now we elected him to state Attorney General and I was extremely happy to hear this news:

On Sunday, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz announced that Keith Ellison, Minnesota Attorney General will take the lead in the case of Floyd's killing.

EDIT: There are plenty of homegrown agent provocateurs and white supremacists shit bags. I did not mean to insinuate that they are all from out of state. Many are from MN, coming from the suburbs or the small towns in out state/rural MN. This is a pretty red state once you head out to the suburbs and beyond.
