Here's the context for how I interpret this. In 2008 they staged confrontational stage banter against fans and Jimmy left the band over the reception they were getting.

Now Jimmy came back, and Billy is saying publicly "the shows will only be about music from now on." Plus, Billy in interviews consistently refuses to badmouth other musicians or talk about his ex-bandmates.

It seems likely to me Jimmy said, I miss the Pumpkins, I want to carry on the musical legacy, but I will only do it if it's about the music and we leave all that other shit behind. No more drama, no more confrontation, let's just play great music.

And Billy says the last couple years of shows have shown this. That includes the Manson tour, where they just came out and rocked for an hour and a half.

I guarantee you there will be a rock tour again. Billy just can't help himself with Jimmy around.

Honestly, unless they kick Jeff out and get James back, I don't really care what they do

Jimmy's fucking awesome but Jimmy can't contribute to and improve songwriting and overall tone the way Iha can. He can only react to and compliment what the guitars are doing

And yeah he'll write some badass drum parts but badass drum parts != good songs

The announcement was just new shows.

You go back to the video from a few days ago and that's all he was really talking about announcing. People were reading into shit that was never coming.

A mishearing which, based on how he kind of mumbled it, is kind of understandable:

"I'm just here to update on some upcoming shows. It'll be happening in May, they'll be at Zuzus, they'll feature Jeff Schroeder and I, doing the duo version of Plainsong. Details to follow um, with an announcement on Tuesday on how, if you want to go, you can acquire a reservation."

The 'grand announcement' was the specific dates and that tickets and VIP packages are NOW ON SALE YAY at ZuZus. That's it.

I thought he meant there would be a bigger, more formal, announcement regarding the Madame Zuzus shows.

Note that the Zuzu shows are co-billed Billy Corgan and Jeff Schroeder.
Perhaps these are the Jeff farewell shows, featuring lots of Being Beige and the Spaniards?

Or is this just a way for Corgan to grind more money out of his hapless fans on Saturdays as he is forced by society to play the role of a father.
