The arm scene is where the movie peaks.

Was that before or after the girl gets turned into a giant hunk of ice? Because I liked that part.
Film had some decent Cronenberg-ian stuff going on, but that's about it. |

Election (1999) - 4.5/5
This movie is fucking amazing. I HAVE FINALLY SEEN EVERY MOVIE WITH MATTHEW BRODERICK IN IT, HAH! EAT IT! Seriously though, I really enjoyed this movie. Reese Withoutherspoon was pretty great too. Next up: Death Note, the movie. Last edited by MarquisInSpades : 02-19-2018 at 01:06 PM. Reason: fixed year of release |

Lady Bird - 5/5
Great film. Simple, relatable story and terrific acting from Saorsie Ronan. Thee Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - 3/5 Didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I would from the trailer. The movie just brings up a ton of issues, and barely addresses any, it just plods along being semi interesting. Frances McDormand rules. |

The Disaster Artist - 4/5
James Franco (yuck) actually does a great job pulling off a near flawless Tommy Wiseau impression. I feel reading the book before watching the movie got in the way of the fun a bit, and I was constantly wondering why they changed a few things. Still a good movie, though. |

Would you say that Thee Billboards was trying to be a Coen piece?
I've only half-seen a trailer, but it did at least very superficially raise that suspicion. |

In a way it does feel like a weird mish-mash of Fargo and No Country For Old Men.
But it's never as entertaining or interesting as either of those. |

Can't believe I was lazy enough to copy and paste, inadvertently inheriting your terrible mistake through inattention / unwarranted trust.
Shame on both of us, but mostly you. |

Jeepers Creepers 3 - 4/10
Not as effective as the first two; child molesting director Victor Salva doesn't bring the creepy atmosphere for this long overdue third installment. But on the other hand, there aren't any scenes of young boys urinating so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Last edited by FlamingGlobes : 02-25-2018 at 09:06 PM. |

I still think the idea of an ageless composite human/monster spending 45mins lined up at the DMV to register personalized number plates is the most ridiculous thing to have ever implied in a horror movie.

Sounds like Kevin Smith's permanent hockey jersey might need one of those medical alert buttons installed.

Plane viewing: Singapore - Brisbane, (flight duration 7.5 hours).
Murder on the Orient Express - C. Was looking for brainless blockbuster entertainment with this. Willem Dafoe, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench join the cast of a classic franchise with an experienced thespian at the helm, and the movie is still just OK? Kenneth Branagh needs fifty lashes, hand me the cane The Shape of Water - A-. I have a soft spot for Guillermo del Toro. I probably rate Hellboy at B+. Some of this, like his other work, is a bit clumsy. But the moments he gets it right, nobody else can replicate. I love his style. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh. I didn't pay for a ticket so couldn't feel satisfied with the price, but in terms of the investment I made by remaining awake on a fucking airplane seated between my two listless children I feel happy with what I received back. |

It could do with a bit more diversity but just seeing a film made by a woman director about a woman character that isn't defined by the men around her was refreshing. |

I wanted to like Mother! so much that I think that's why I ended up not liking it, take that to mean what you want.
I think if I revisit it in another 6-8 years, I might appreciate it. |

I typically don't like Aronofsky movies, aside from Black Swan.
Not even sure what to expect of this, heard some people saying it's awful and some people saying it's excelent. |

Aronofsky is soo hit or miss for me, but my 17 year old film-geek self will always give him a pass for Requiem for a Dream.

And yes, I realize Requiem is probably considered trash at this point, but in 2000 and at the age of 17, I really dug the hell out of it. Right place, right time and all that.

Actually, it was 2001. The year, not the movie. Although I do love that movie, much moreso than anything Aronofsky ever made.
Anyone wanna talk about 2001? |

RFAD is great. The fact that it's considered trash now is very baffling, tbh. The movie struck a bit of an emotional chord for me, although I fucking hate Jared Leto. The only good thing he has and will ever do would have been RFAD. I haven't seen Blade Runner 2049 yet, so hopefully he doesn't screw that up for me either.
