I don't really care for Tool but we've made fun of them enough. Mumford is far worse.
I listened to...i don't think I listened to an album today. |

After a few years as a recovering Tool fanboy I can safely say that Undertow is their best record. When I saw them live Swamp Song was easily the highlight.

See I'd say Aenema but I was never a fanboy but I think every dude that was in their 20 during the 2000s listened to and loved the shit out of Tool for at least a little bit.
And that does count for something. Honestly still I see Tool as one of those 20s bands for eternity. |

I finally gave it a try, and while I hear SP/SD in the guitars, everything else is rather different. This band has a sickeningly happy sound to them, and the vocals are so smooth I still can't tell if the singer is male or female.....I wouldn't say I HATE it (especially for modern music, shit) but it falls into the categories of "background music" and "music I would not show my friends." |

Also just listened to The Big Roar by Joy Formidable. Utterly blown away, I'm serious. This could be the valium talking but everything on that album sounded so huge....huge and layered. It reminded me more of Hum than SP (yeah, there's a difference) but they definitely have their own way of approaching this cherished sound. Love it, and the good news is this band is......current! So that means live shows might be happen sometime!!

Yesterday:
Anthology 2 - The Beatles solar.3 - Bailterspace Murray Street - Sonic Youth My Generation - The Who Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) - Wu-Tang Clan The Chronic - Dr. Dre I didn't enjoy The Chronic very much at all. Today (midnight onwards): Just for a Day - Slowdive Revolver - The Beatles Pubic Fruit - Curve Chelsea Girls - Nico Sonic Nurse - Sonic Youth Gish I heard Black Sabbath's self titled and EVOL by Sonic Youth while at the record store today, as well as some glitch-pop 8-bit shit. Bone Machine - Tom Waits Here Come the Warm Jets - Brian Eno Loveless - My Bloody Valentine Songs of Pain - Daniel Johnston Pet Sounds, stereo version - The Beach Boys I didn't like Bone Machine very much either. |

I seriously haven't listened to this in like 10 years. I felt like I was in college again! Only heard disc one though, because the mp3s were improperly tagged... I'll listen to disc 2 tonight... |
