He was a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy in 1988 and 1989 and from 1991 to 2007 and was a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy from 1989 to 1991. Brough was a member of the seven-man Presidency of the Seventy from 1993 to 1998.

this reuinion won't even be a tour.... billy's gonna do some shitty cream/led zeppelin reunion with like 1 or 2 shows at MSG or whatever. It'll be lame. I'm disappointed. This should have been the move in 2007, no press, no interviews, just a full lineup and a different legacy. Nevermind the whole "this ship has sunk and the band is a joke and the music inexcusable, time for a reunion for integrity's sake"....?

you may be right

all i know is...if they actually do all play onstage together again, it's going to make all the bad shit worth it. having mike burns destroy songs for a whole tour, having fucking jeff wank all over the lead parts, having monuments exist, all that shit. it's just going to make it so much sweeter when they're all together again

Yeah, nothing screams classic lineup like Billy dropping consonants and squealing.

D'arcy had such a cool, shoegaze-vibe with her vocals. Put her on lead.

I don't know why they had an electric setup anyway, when just doing a few acoustic songs to a small crowd in a small room would've been a much more elegant showcase --->

Because most of the pumpkins songs don't require some big 'fuck off' drum kit to pull off. When I carted out my "Jimmy" setup for the Siamese Dream album performance, while it was fun to play on a recreation of his setup (and aesthetically it looks fucking BADASS), a lot of it was pretty unecessary for majority of the songs. The only songs that benefitted from that setup were Geek and Silverfuck, the others sound no different on whatever 4 piece kit with a splash cymbal. Mike made good use of what he had and what he was playing really didn't require that much more than what he already had at the time.

Guess Mike just doesn't feel the need for so many extra toys to hit, though he did eventually have those 2 additional rack toms to the left of his hi-hats, I think he had these extras on the Oceania live bluray release.

I agree, you don't need anything more than a 4 piece for basically any Pumpkins song. But for cymbals I think you need at least one crash aside from the ride to really do justice to Chamberlin's parts. His cymbalwork is so fucking cool, like in the Cherub Rock chorus where he basically plays the tune across the chinas --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3nO33J_3lY&t=4m17s. Can't really do that with just a ride and hihat

I dunno, I've personally always felt weird without at least one crash to play on. Yeah obviously he didn't feel the need, but one of my favorite things about Jimmy is the cymbal accents he does (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngL7G_yz1Vg&t=1m16s)....if you're gonna try to copy his parts, why not give yourself all the tools possible to help.

There's a sort of opulence about having a big fuck off drum setup...if I was on tour with a big rock band and was paying a guy to setup my drums I'd be playing on that all the time, just cause

The extra toms were what gave Jimmy his "tribal" tone.

This thing he does -- a light tap tap on ride and then a light ch- ch- on snare immediately after. We're talking 4 consecutive 1/32nd notes.

Yeah, if I was in Mike's position and the band had a budget then I do would be rocking a larger setup because why the fuck not. However unecessary in that VIP pre-show thing though, that would be a bit silly.

yeah that's fucking cool. i believe those are called ruffs, rudimentally. he does that tons in suffer and the hummer outro and stuff but the fact that he carries it over to huge rock songs is why he's so great
