I take no pleasure in reporting this, but I think we can all agree that for Billy's music to improve, Chloe must leave him and receive full custody, preventing him from ever seeing his children again

If we all include this wish in our nightly prayers it can be a great year for everyone

this is all very conflicting for me considering Billy is the lord I pray to - however, Teargarden came before any of this airplane/Augustus businses didn't it? & he wrote Mellon Collie when he was married or what have you

i think we should by this point quit deflecting blame of bad Corgan crap on the surrounding people because there's clearly only one man, a tall bald man who can have a hand in any sort of artistic upscaling whatsoever and it's time to accept that

or, as has been said many times before, accept what Furry is now and move on to other bands who aren't currently pulling such fantastic shit-turns & destroying all their potentially good albums/releases (save for Machina reissue, which i'm decreeing right now will be a GRAND experience & even Daddy Bill couldn't fuck it up)

Thumbs up

I feel like Geek/Mayo/Hummer are better than Rocket by some indefinable metric, but it's my favorite by a country mile

The chorus sounds super grungy and I feel like he was trying to do a Cobain thing with the solo (even though it's unarguably more complex). They even have him tearing off the strings in the music video which I feel like is a rip-off of the Smells Like Teen Spirit video.

I dunno, it's by all accounts and purposes a good song. It's just simply one I've never been crazy about. To be clear, that's not to say that it doesn't hit the spot to rock out to from time to time.

F i love rocket. Such a strange, creative arrangement for a song. Like so many sp songs you could base an entire discography off this style of tune

Let’s talk about rocket some more. You got buzzing drone of the verse ‘peggio juxtapose with those grinding pre-choruses and choruses and post-choruses, the serpentine lead hooks biting, stinging, tangling round your brain

Add to that a top notch jimmy part sorta stuttering in the verse, just a bit to keep u from fading, then whompa pom! send u into the stratosphere for the exciting parts

Plus when bill go “AH SHALL B FREY”

Rocket
Mayo

.....and gosh

Probably have to go with Geek for #3

Feel especially bad that disarm didn’t make my top 3 considering this is a disarm appreciation

found this looking for a list of all the times they played the full band heavy version of disarm.
did disappoint.

but while i'm here, top 5 singles:
today
rocket
i am one
zero
bullet

top 3 for sd:
quiet
silverfuck
hummer

and apparently disarm was never supposed to be soft on sd, but they couldn't get it sounding right and that was the last minute plan b that ended up working so they went with it.

and i read that billy said recently he wrote it the same time as he wrote today, and it was also about suicide. which seems strange since it's not on qaos though.

ungh I FUCKING LOVE the heavy disarm. especially the mtv version where he's sick and breaks a low E [?!] string

i don't usually do the 'i'm angry so i'm going to listen to heavy music cause i'm so pissed' thing, but that disarm works so fucking well for that

I USED TO BE A LITTLE BOY

SO OWLD IN MY SHOES

AND WHAT I CHOOSE IS MAH CHOICE

@trev i think only the MTV awards and that british show appearance?

i don't care about the rest of the thread, just heavy disarm

Took dissed Today and ranked four singles over Zero. Is there no end to his blaspheming?

Re: Disarm

I always thought "Today" was the suicide song and "Disarm" was the child abuse song, and while that's true, "Disarm" becomes even more haunting when you realize that it is also about Corgan contemplating his suicide.

"What I choose is my choice." He's trying to justify taking his own life.

"A killer in me is a killer in you." Pretty much, if he does take his own life, he's not the only one complicit in the killing, and his actions by proxy make the ones who gave him his wounds killers themselves. It's almost spiteful.

i think i love disarm a billion times more now. just cause i'm a dick and was never abused as a child, but was very suicidal!

god the lyrics are super haunting if you read it like that

i was thinking it's a bit of a coincidence if the only two times they played it were on a tv broadcast? was hoping there might have been a few other times.

i think the performance on the uk tv was better, but it's a shame that billy's guitar is so low in the mix you can hardly hear it, it's just all james. which is nice for a change, since he's normally low in the mix.
but you can hardly hear his guitar on the mtv version either, and the bass is way too loud as well.
it would have been good to have a proper well played and well mixed heavy disarm at least once!

D’Arcy’s bass sounds weird as fuck in the MTV version. I usually love her tone but I don’t there. It’s just too loud and obnoxious.
