Yeah man, I agree. But on the other hand, I can understand the narrative of "if you're truly fulfilled and happy, having a drink wouldn't serve a purpose anyways".

What I'm trying to reach is just only drink once in a blue moon to treat myself. Maybe like twice a month get a mellow drunk going on if the occasion calls for it. Where it really becomes a habit is when it becomes almost a ritual... You know, come home from work, crack open a few beers... It sounds harmless enough, but that's when being a drunk can really sneak up on ya.

And getting drunk blows. So disappointing. Like all drugs that aren't weed.

drinking is the best

i just got drunk with my roommate and we talked about childhood and masturbation and stuff

she's so cool

i'd never be able to interact with others like that if it weren't for alcohol

It gets better. I felt like this for a long time.

I still dream about getting high, but I haven't since 2004. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to quit.

I don't know if you ever read Carlos Castaneda but I really feel that weed is my ally and I had to break up with it. It healed me and liberated me and made me whole, but the time was right for me to stop using it.

One of my therapists once said that she was smoking a joint somewhere in S.E.A and an old man came up to her and told her it was an old person's drug, like, it's what you smoke at the end of your life when the days are long.

It gives me something to look forward to. I had to take a break. A long break.

listen fuzz, the point here is that you're in no position to 'bargain' with yourself just yet. it's too soon. whether or not you agree with the 'drink once in a blue moon' approach is up to you, but it's a discussion you should only be having with yourself after a prolonged period of abstinence (at the very least). honestly i'm happy for you that you really seem serious about making the change this time, but i'd hate to see you slipping back into it because of a moot decision like that. friendly suggestion: lay off it, completely, at least for a month or two.

Yeah drinking is actually ok as long as you don't over do it. If I drink a bottle of wine over say two hours I feel mellow and there's no hangover.

Two bottles I turn into a beast and feel tired and dehydrated next morning.

Breaking news, I know.

Fuzzrod don't touch that shit. I have been contemplating the same thing, having a bowl after the drug test, or a couple of hits at the concert.

Fuck that.

hey fuzzy if you wanna quit drinking but still like a light buzz once i a blue moon you should heat up a huge amount of liquor and then inhale the fumes. it's not drinking! this could be a blessing in disguise.

Weed and opiates for me. And I'm right there sober with you. Very hard but I need to just stay away because I know I will spiral and I'm not losing my kid. There's so much to fix because of what 12 years of addiction caused. And being near my parents is the LEAST helpful place to heal but I have no choice right now. Adopt us?

I don't drink a lot (only on the weekends, never more than 4 beers in one evening), but I'd love to cut it out completely before the paunch takes hold. But fuck me, the autumn beers are too good to pass up. Maybe Christmastime.

Is this even a thing? Who grabs a beer and goes for a run or to the grocery store?

Oh right, functioning alcoholics.
