It's been a year since Awkward Bodies played what ended up as our final show. Recently I compiled a 90min anthology of rare tracks/demos/live cuts/alt versions/etc and here it is, a free download. Super pretentious.

aw it's cool that's where you aimed - great execution.
i'm confused what you used the whammy-type pedal for, though. the notes you play aren't out of range for a regularly tuned guitar, so what were you using it for? was the idea to use the timbral change of the pedal to get your sounds? |

the notes go up an octave during the last 2/3 of the track. it could have been done without the pedal but it would have involved trying to be smooth and bend/vibrato the high e around the 17th and 19th and 21st frets and such.
not using it for whammy effects, but a dedicated pitch shifter. ehx pitch fork. |

yeah part of what i liked was how it basically went from cello to weeping violin near the end. but i figured you did just use the higher frets. anyway, yeah. subtlety is key with pitch shifters. it can get very bad, very fast.
i'm listening to parts of your ep, dig it. they all seem to have that semi lo-fi droning, hypnotic quality. repetition that makes your imagination work. just what seems to soothe my ears lately. |

Thanks for taking the time to check it out and writing some comments. I really like the 22 minute format (11 minutes per side on a cassette which is roughly 10 min per side). I feel it's short enough to not be too demanding on people, yet still long enough for some involved pieces.

I have a shitload of unfinished songs I should just go ahead and finish, but when I pick up my guitar to write stuff, I just feel like I need to write new songs before I finish ones I started writing years ago. It doesn't make sense, but I feel like it's worth more if current me is writing songs, rather than living off of the scraps of past me.
But also I have perpetual writers' block and can't write shit anymore so I haven't been able to write shit in a long time. And even if I could, I hate people listening to me when I'm practicing and writing, and now that I live with my parents again, I feel like I can't really play and sing without them listening to me and bothering me. |

I’ve mentioned this before, but this has a lot to do with the "musician's gaze."

I imagine Rbg probably spent the rest of the night trying to record a version of landslide before realizing how difficult recording is and then walking away.

Just wrote a long pm to cork soaker and accidentally backed out of it. Dubbing copies of the new tape Landscapes and Time at home in real time. Kinda bored.

You think I could just record straight to cassette I think I might go that route
Like just a big tape recorder Looking online right now What I know for sure is that I never want anything to do with production software it's not for me |

hey you guys love a guy with an acoustic guitar right?
this song is like an hour old. shitty sound cause i recorded it on my cell phone just now. i have no idea if it's worthless or not. i'll need to revisit it in a few days or something to know. proceed with caution, i'm not a good singer. lyrics in description if anyone doesn't get enough sad vibez from my posts. That vocal melody reminds me of something so hard but I can't put my finger on it.
