i kinda got a vibe like he genuinely got newfound inspiration from the lyrics to Tonight Tonight

"you can never leave without leaving a piece of youth"
"the more you change the less you feel"
"believe in me, that life can change and you're not stuck in vain"

the symbolic ticket to his bigtime success, a song he wrote in his twenties and how far removed from that he must feel now. i thought it was a nice touch, although i didn't care for the singing much.

I will take the bait. I legitimately enjoyed this, and thought it was one of Corgan's best media appearances in years. "Mandaryne" sounded nice. It almost inspired me to pull up his album on Spotify.

there was a different quality to his vocals here. he was still dropping consos & whatnot, but i don't know - maybe it was just cos he was singing quieter but he sounded somewhat different to how he normally has live recently

Yeah, the strings really enhanced the acoustic vibe.

He should play with the quartet more often. Tear would've sounded amazing if he'd busted it out.

Whatevs. There's probably tens of dozens of children of middle class white gen Y'ers listening to NPR that just got introduced to the Pumpkins. And over the next few weeks some of them are going to find stuff like Ruby or Hummer or Rhinoceros and are going to flip their shit because they just found out how much they can be moved by music and their lives will never be the same. I'm all for it.

Cool post bro.

Personally I thought it was a good performance, although after reading the thread title I expected a funny photo of Billy seated at a desk which was preposterously too small compared to his gangling frame, so there's a tinge of disappointment there too.

The balance between him and the strings was much better than the studio version of Aeronaut. And the quicker tempo suited it much better.

His voice is sounding really tired though. Needs a rest.

I actually like this. This is nice. Mainly Mandaryne.

Well, IMO, Ogilala > TFE.
