it's hard keeping up with someone with ADHD
yesterday i met up with a guy named ricky who i've chatted with once or twice online. we met at a subway restaurant and just sat in a booth and talked for three hours. during the first hour of conversation i knew he had ADHD...not because he was distracted...but more so for the hyperactivity. our conversation was all over the place...it wasn't necessarily flight of ideas...but it's the closest thing to it that i've ever experienced. anyway we were supposed to hang out today and get high and watch a movie...but his lawyer didn't go to court to suspend his probation or something...so we didn't meet up today.
he wants to see me tomorrow. he's absolutely gorgeous...i don't know if there's any potential for romance...right now we're just about intellectual intercourse. he can actually hold his own with me...we talked about everything...god, metaphysical literature, the war in iraq, free speech tv, indigo children, corporate media, the radio, childhood problems just to name a few subjects discussed. we both stated that we never connect with anyone. we connected on the fact that we never connect with anyone. anyway, i think he's gorgeous. wouldn't you agree? http://www.gay.com/images/personals/...b96-0-main.jpg Last edited by spa ced : 05-30-2006 at 08:45 PM. |

"Indigo children" is a New Age term used to refer to a set of children having certain special psychological and spiritual attributes. The adjective "indigo" is used because it is claimed these children appear with an indigo-hued aura. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Indigo_Children Oh and concerning his probation...apparently he said that a few weeks ago he was in his SUV making out with a guy he was on a date with when a cop interrupted them and arrested them..he didn't tell me if he was high or not but he probably must have been to have been drug tested, arrested, and put on probation. He says that weed helps him with his ADHD moreso than Ritalin. |

Why's he on probation?
Anyway, good luck with it all. On a side note, I can't help but wonder whether people think I have adhd too when I talk.. Maybe that's why I'm so unsuccessful in my social life. Oh well. |

Anyway yeah our weed guy has ADHD, at least I'm sure he is and just hasn't been diagnosed yet. He's a fun guy but only in low doses...but weed does change the conversation a little at least. |

Any time I've seen someone who supposedly has ADHD, it's been a kid whose mum is feeding him skittles and washing them down with coke. I think some people have a tendency to be hyper, whether it's to do with diet or not (although mostly it is), and being hyper is not a medical condition. |

The whole "indigo children" idea is fucking stupid - why would one believe in that?
But lol oh lol: The Skeptic's Dictionary asserts: "The main thesis of The Indigo Children is that many children diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder are actually space aliens." |

I don't think it's that simple. Of course you aren't wrong in a lot of "ADHD" cases, but not all of them are owing to sugar and television. |

I am admittedly just talking from personal experience but it's like
Kid: *SCREAM* Mother: "Here have these sweeties" Kid: *SCREAM* "I want some of your drink" Mother: "You can't, it's big peoples drink, have your apple juice" Kid: *SCREAM* I WANT COCA COLA Mother: "Ok here you go, just have a sip.. don't drink it all... no! no... oh well" Kid: "I WANT SKITTLES" Mother: "Here you go" Kid: "FIZZY COLA BOTTLES" Mother: "Here" Kid: *bites mum, then sister, then screams and spins round until he falls down* Mother: "OMG U HAVE TEH ADHD" |

It can still be sugar and lots of e numbers in their diet, plus a general tendency to hyperactivity imo. I have mates who are 20+ and often incredibly hyper even though they rarely have sugar in their diet (I'm thinking of one person in particular) I'm sure if he had a bunch of e numbers and sugar and then went to a doctor complaining of not being able to sleep/concentrate he could easily be described as having ADHD. Again this is all just from personal experience, I've never met an adult who has ADHD, but I have seen a good few kids who are already hyper and then just eat way too many sweets. (and have been told they have ADHD) |
