Wasn't Paramore formed by a record label?
Guess I'd have to go with Coldplay then. |

sort of, it's definitely directed by a record label. It was a teenage trio in central tennessee and the singer already signed as a solo act I think, and she was in the band so she just brought them with her. However, the guys that used to be in the band quit because they came to understand that it was Haley Williams solo "band" and the record label was doing all the lifting and they had absolutely no creative control and were basically just riding this pop-star's coat tails. Those guys are p. coll, tbh
It's basically shitty pop framed as an organic "rock" band. I don't hate pop -- see: Carlsson, Robyn -- but I do hate toothless, flavorless nothing pop like Paramore. |

Josh Farro wrote a personal response on the departure on his Blogger account, entirely different from the band's response, claiming that the band was "a manufactured product of a major-label." He further accused Hayley Williams of being manipulated by her management, treating the rest of the group as her solo project, and claimed she was the only member of the band who was signed to Atlantic Records, while her bandmates were simply "riding on the coattails of her dream".

Man, I dunno. Both of these bands are sort of irrelevant, right? I mean, this would have made sense in like 2008? I think coldplay is on hiatus and had I not seen an ad recently, I'd have thought paramour was, too.
That being said, I dig coldplay's last two records and they were good when I saw them like five years ago. I've barely ever noticed p-more, couldn't tell you one song of theirs. :\ But like, with specialized blogs and the fact I only listen to what's on my iPod, I can't really name a band I think is horrible. I've been able to nudge out any possibility of hearing music I doubt like. My default answer is always whatever the local modern rock station is peddling and I have no clue what the bands they play are by.name. I voted paramore. |

paramore just released a new album and being a mainstream multiplatinum act is never irrelevant...i mean more people listen to these two bands than pretty much anything we like put together

is that one direction
i should have said rock band but then that would leave out paramore, if i was being honest about their "rock cred" because tbh she sings like a nashville star and the music is "rock and roll" if someone was trying to bleed out all of the passion and spirit from it to make LCD pop music basically this is a thread about how much i think paramore sucks |

That's OD, yes.
Don't think I've heard more than one Paramore song, but that was enough to win every poll. But can I just add that Coldplay isn't even half as bad as Nickelback - his face alone is reason enough to win a contest. Like seriously, this guy is damn ugly. http://theherofeed.com/wp-content/up...nickelback.jpg |

Yeah, Nickleback definitely wins at all the horrible awards but I figured that would have been an unoriginal answer since it's like a "thing" to hate them.
Like remember back when they first got popular and the internet reviled them but still mainstream music fans (who didn't necessarily frequent the internet like they do now) either didn't really know them or else thought they "rocked"? Kind of miss those times before everyone was in on the joke. |

I wasn't aware that it's a thing to hate Nickelback. *stilllearningtheinternet-
It's not so much their songs that I don't like, somehow they just manage to develop a sound that makes me think of incredible douches and punchable faces, can't explain it any better. I didn't pay any attention to Paramore - what's their target audience? Teens? Serious question. |

Yes, Paramore was a teen band to begin with. I think the first record came out when Hayley was 17 or so. She still looks it. Basically, I think Warner/Atlantic wanted a girl pop/emo band to capitalize on that market. They released it through Fueled by Ramen and obfuscated the fact that they were, in fact, signed by Atlantic itself to give them "cred" to people who think they give a shit about that stuff, but don't know any better.
This is not uncommon. Gish was released under Caroline Records to obfuscate the fact that they were a major label band and give them "indie cred." I'm not sure why this would work for anyone but really uninformed consumers, since it's not a secret that FBR is connected to Warner/Atlantic and Caroline was owned by Virgin. |

Ugh, that's almost on the same level as Katy Perry. I quite liked "The Only Exception", especially the rawer and slightly ragged live version where she actually bothered to sing the high part without the aid of autotune (or a million fans).
