I loved that aesthetic on MCIS, the spoken word thing at the end of Cupid

I wonder if we'd hate him if instagram was around in the 90s

MCIS is a very intelligent album, at least pseudo-intelligent. He was obviously a very talented writer.

Nickelback aren't opening the whole thing is SEO. go into interview mention bands that people actually care about and google a lot and then when people google nickelback they get news about Smashing pumpkins reunion tour or they google Radiohead and get news about Monuments to an Effigy

I find this pretty much impossible to believe. Unless you're a complete shut-in, you've met tons of Nickelback fans.

And if you are a complete shut-in, well, my hat goes off to you then.

Unhappy

I have always hoped that MCIS intentionally evoked the feelings and worldview of a teenager/young adult, as opposed to being a true expression of Billy's emotionally and intellectually stunted self at the time

Obviously, since then, that hope has faded considerably

Oh yeah MCIS is so much more intelligent than that 'basic' Nirvana band that only the intellectually bereft listen to, right puzzled?

I might have met someone unknowingly, but as I said - I wouldnt know a single one. I am Euro and work in cities in the US, in both cases Nickelback is literally the punching line in many, many jokes. if any of my coworkers actually like Nickelback, they'd be ill advised to say that loud. so no, I would not know where I would meet Nickelback fans. I don't hang out in bro bars, nor do I meet soccer moms.

oh are these 3 for example all in the same camp? I do know at least casual fans (aka they will at least pick it for playlists) of Staind and Creed. I don't mind either band. Nickelback is just something else in my bubble.

I just can't imagine seeing this kind of content played at a Smashing Pumpkins show

I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease
And I love the places that we go
And I love the people that you know
And I love the way you can't say "No"
Too many long lines in a row
I love the powder on your nose
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why
I like the freckles on your chest
And I like the way you like me best
And I like the way you're not impressed
While you put me to the test
I like the white stains on your dress
I love the way you pass the check
And I love the good times that you wreck
And I love your lack of self respect
While you're passed out on the deck
I love my hands around your neck

Any chance the Nickelback rumors were purposely put out by Live Nation or the SP management in order to attain relief and goodwill from the fan-base once some good bands are announced? I think with the astronomical ticket prices that Billy would make sure that the opening acts are bands that his fans would enjoy.

I used to listen to that song stoned and when the "strange things, my mind has wings" part came on I would feel like a badass.

On my way from Religion class to chapel.

I honestly think there is a fair chance Nickelback gets booed as an opener in Toronto if it happened.

I remember that they opened with that one of the times I saw them on that tour. After all the Jimmy craziness I was devastated that I was seeing this grand tour without him, but as the MCIS theme faded you could see Billy in his power stance, like really, really low - just making out his bald head moving back and forth slouched over his guitar like he was going to pounce- then that monster riff. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. They kind of extended the intro. Right as the main riff started, he leaped on to the monitors in front of him for master of the universe power rock pose. For an odd looking man with girl hips, he's a cocky, sexy motherfucker when he's having his way with a strat.
