I never liked the Pauls, but I used to think "even though their economic beliefs are dumb and terrible, I respect them more than I do regular Republicans, because they at least have principles instead of just being dishonest assholes."

But then I actually paid attention to what they were doing and was like "nope, they are just as bad as the other Republicans, if not worse." They go on about how they want the government out of this and that, yet they throw their support behind a protectionist nationalist economically imprudent dolt.

honestly i just kind of gave ron paul a blank check for "at least being principled" until i saw him on infowars talking about how trump fucking up is all part of his genius master plan

i do have to give rand paul a tiny smidgeon of cred for being the only republican sponsor of karen gillibrand's bill about reforming the investigation of rape in the military. i remain shocked by that, but it was good legislation, for once. gillibrand would be a pretty solid front of the new democrat party but there's something about gen x democrats that they seem to be avoiding taking the mantle of leadership and instead deferring to people like chuck schumer & nanci pelosi & hillary clinton. shit gillibrand even tepidly endorsed andrew fucking cuomo for president instead of considering it herself. i don't think she's voted for a trump cabinet member yet, and the only person including sanders & warren to be able to make that claim. o well democrats are useless
