Yeah but bill wrote SD first.

Razor:

Never noticed how blatantly daydream rips off MBV before.

I remember bill admitting the Quiet riff was stolen from somewhere too but dont know which band.

Some people claim Cherub ripped-off Bytor and the Snowdog, but I've never been able to hear it.

Billy himself said he ripped off the intro to Cherub Rock from By-Tor and the Snow Dog by Rush, listen at the 3:54 mark:

Years back I asked Billy if 'Wound' was directly influenced by U2's 'Where the Streets Have No Name.' He took a step forward and said, "Whoa... I didn't think anyone would ever notice that. It was, good job." But as I was about to ask a follow-up question, someone else jumped in to ask him stuff.

So, Wound.

See my above post. Wound is actually a copy of U2's Where the Streets Have No Name, at least musically.

okay i'll buy that but

the "last night i turned around" line that was added post-arising has also been confirmed as being ripped off of cheaptricks surrender

The melody in wound is also pretty similar to "If You Could Read My Mind" by Gordon Lightfoot.

he was indeed quite inspired by neu back then considering he tried to emulate hallogallo in starla as well

i thought when i was a teenager the opening riff of celebrity skin was bill's passive-aggressive way of getting back at collective soul. it doesn't sound unlike gel.
