Terrifier - 1/5
This was a horrendous traumatizing movie on so many levels. The characters are all idiots who make the worst decisions ever (for example, a woman breaks into a locked building, finds a body severed in half and her reaction is not to leave immediately). That said, the gore was pretty well done, riding the line of being just realistic enough to be disturbing but still looking a bit funny and the main clown guy was surprisingly good in his expressions and mannerisms and had solid make-up.

I hate clowns

A Matter of Life and Death (aka Stairway to Heaven) 1946 - A

Another Powell and Pressburger technicolor masterpiece. It always ranks in the top handful of British films and now I know why. Wonderful

A Dark Song - 4/5
It was wild. A lot of it made me really uncomfortable similar to a couple scenes from both Hereditary and The Witch. Better left unspoiled, people should really watch it.

Thanks for the rec yet again TuralyonW3

Just watched the trailer for A Dark Song and I'll check it out this weekend. Thanks.

Also interested in this series that's coming out on the 25th. Stephen King and J.J. Abrams bringing Shawshank back? I'm in.

FoolofaTook!! You should watch Perfect Blue. It's an anime about a pop star that wants to become an actress and it gets real fuccn' weird from there. It's really strange and kinda unsettling.

Die Hard with a Vengeance - B
Classic 90s action/cop movie that stands the test of time. Except for the super large portable phones and the pre-9/11 reaction to terrorist bombings in NY

mother! - B+
No idea what the fuss is all about. The allusions are obvious but still well-made.

It's like they expect to not think while watching a movie. They should have known exactly what was going on when one of the brothers killed the other one.

Let Me In - quality vampire story with some deeper themse of adolescent abuse, codependent love, etc.; also exceptionally well-acted by the young leads, writing that doesn’t insult, and some spooky creature moments. I give it 7.5/10, happy i watched but probably won’t rewatch

Mama - freakin spooky and thick with dread at times but i hated the main rocker lady and wanted her to get her neck snapped by a ghostwitch or evil child, sadly this wasn’t to be. I will give it 6/10 for some great atmospheres and effects but, again, maybe some different casting for that lady, didn’t buy her redemptive arc at all, felt forced and unsatisfying. Oh but maybe add one for some daring childperil. So maybe it’s a 7

Have you seen Let The Right One In? Let Me In is a remake of that movie. I'd recommend a watch if you haven't.

Jack Reacher- B

Man, I know people hate Tom Cruise, but he can sensationally portray himself in a badass role. Fun watch, if not a little cheesy.

Lawrence of Arabia is one of my favorite films. It's an A+ for sure. Guinness was a fucking legend.

I'm going to watch this tonight for like the eleventh time:

It's an A. Always loved it. Visuals scarred my brain. I've been putting off watching the prequel because I've heard awful things about bad CG.

The prequel is kiiiinda worth a watch. The CG is not bad CG, it's just doesn't compare to the original's practicals

I watched the trailer for the new Godzilla movie and thought it was OK, but heard people losing their minds over it.

So I reached the only conclusion any sane person would, I want to watch ALL of the Godzilla movies starting with the 1954 original before the new one comes out.

First one is amazing, but you’re gonna have a reeeeaaally rough time with a lot of the early ones (SHOWA ERA) after that. My favorite era is the new wave of films that started in 1984 (HEISEI ERA).

I'm actually cautiously optimistic about Aquaman and Shazam!.

I'll admit, the dialogue in the Aquaman trailer was shitty, but it looks like one of those superhero movies that crosses genres and doesn't just try to be a "superhero movie." They come out best when they focus on the genres that make the particular character distinct from other superheroes (like crime fiction elements in Batman, fantasy elements in Wonder Woman, etc.)

Shazam! is looking better than Aquaman. Better dialogue, and it looks like a fun romp. I guess my sticking point is that I've never really been satisfied with how DC comics turned Captain Marvel into "Tom Hanks' Big as a superhero" after they bought the rights to the character, when the original (and best) version had a distinct personality from Billy Batson, and was more like his genie or something. The 'S' in his magic word being for "the wisdom of Solomon" doesn't really sit well with the guy being an overgrown kid. But the character has been written this way for the past thirty years or so, so I guess I'll just have to live with it (every once in a while, a comic comes out with an interpretation closer to the original, however, like Jeff Smith's Monster Society of Evil, or Grant Morrison's "Thunderworld").

Also, Doctor Sivana was originally a mad scientist character. Think a wackier Lex Luthor. It looks like they are giving him superpowers and just making him another character that Captain Marvel can punch. That's what Black Adam is for!

Wonder Woman has at least shown us that movies under WB's DC universe banner can still be good if Snyder's grubby fingertips aren't let near them (I know he's got a producer credit, but I suspect was just a contractual thing). Of course, that isn't a guarantee, because Snyder wasn't responsible for Suicide Squad, but that also looks just as unwatchable.
