Raging Slab.
had a chance at a big break...in 1989 MTV played their video "Don't Dog Me", and in 1993 they had a video with Gary Coleman in it called "Anywhere But Here"...they are like a more southern rock sounding Black Crowes, but way better. oh, and a lot of people know them since they were on ozzfest last year, but noone here has ever mentioned Black Label Society. ------------------ No way to disconnect |

Most people don't even know what that is. Garbage use one on their new album on "Cup of Coffee" -- it makes it very cool. |

If you get the chance to see them live anywhere near you, you've gotta see them. I like their studio stuff, but its nothing compared to what they sound like live. its simply incredible the way they add to all the songs. all 7 members just going nuts on the jams at the end... wow. www.thedears.org |

I bought "For the Dahlias..." Not what I was expecting. Nope. Is Hollywood Bedtime Story better? What was the one they were selling at the Sloan show? |

ahahaaa... see, you got screwed. Nor The Dahlias is the lead singers first project... think The Marked before SP. They were called the dears, but sound nothing like they do after all the current muscians joined. The guy (murry lightborn or something) didn't want his label to even release the cd cause he was embarrased of it. Hollywood Bedtime Story is the real Dears album, and Orchestrial Pop Noir Romantique is the real Dears EP. Get either of those to get a taste of what you heard at the sloan show. Even then though, the studio songs don't sound half as good as they do live, and it takes a few listens to really get into them. ------------------ how'd this world get so fucking fun, all of a sudden? |

band: shun
where i heard them: in concert with another obscure band called born empty. sound: if radiohead met the deftones... song: all of them. they can be dloaded off mp3.com i swear, this band rocks. and they have one of the best drummers i have ever heard live. they only have 6 or 7 songs on mp3 so it wouldn't be any trouble to dload the "michael in reign" ep. |

Band: Fireside
How discovered: Read an album review in a magazine, and was totally blown away by their performance here Sound like: Hard "emo" rock - Avant garde rock song that I defy you to not like: Take a down other comments: Their first album was a loud screaming hard rocking emotional angry piece of work, but their last has all that most prgressive guitar bands wish they had. Band: Motorpsycho How discovered: Friend gave me an album to listen to Sound like: Almost everything with a guitar in it, extreme quality. ****l, trash, country, poppish rock, punk, 70ties pop, prog-rock, The who, surf, etc. Depends on wich album you get. song that I defy you to not like: Vortex surfer other comments: Best fucking live band of Europe. Concerts took about 3 hours back in '98, with an epic 1 hour composition every now and then. Huge catalog, very 1337 trade group (guess who's in) ------------------ Happenings in my life wants me to be down Maybe I’m better off living on my own Far away from friends that I don’t want to hurt Would anybody miss me If I went away for a couple of days Or would I miss myself too much Bootlist |

Band: The And/Ors
How discovered: We got their CD along with a Rainer Maria CD purchased from eBay Sound like: Sensitive emo-boys (and girl) trying to play art-rock songs that I defy you to not like: "At the Saturn Bar" and "Terror Eyes" other comments: They're probably not all that unknown Band: Blood Sledge Electric Death Chickens How discovered: I was searching for Suicide Machines bass tabs about 5 years ago, and the only ones I could find were tabbed by a guy named Fidget, who played bass in a punk/ska band from the Detroit area called Half Moon. Half Moon's webpage had a link to the BSEDC web page. End of story. Sound like: The Dead Milkmen + The Violent Femmes + The Frogs songs that I defy you to not like: "Green Leaf" "It Fell Between My Knees", "Sex with Men", and "?" other comments: i highly doubt many of you would really enjoy BSEDC's music....it's quite juvenile most of the time ------------------ What is forgiveness? It's just a dream What is forgiveness? It's everything... |
