Has some of the same production qualities during the solo and stuff, but no... It sounds like a cheap attempt to ape that sound. The song sucks ass

It just sounds like a green album throwaway made with Pinkerton production values. I don't know what it was, but from Green on a lot of Rivers' songs had the same kinda melodies and songwriting tactics that weren't present during the eras of the first 2 records.

I think my main qualm with weezer 2015 is that cuomo's "smart and funny and cute" lyrics have become too self-aware. Like it was pretty great when he sang about loving KISS and put "what's with these homies dissing my girl?" into a straight-laced pop-rock tune, at the time that shit was pretty great. But all this "let's not eat dinner" and the shit about the canneloni and it's all just BLEGH.

I basically stopped listening to new Weezer when i discovered The Weakerthans, who kinda just filled that void for me. But the Weakerthans broke up so now IDFK

I've never really listened to much of their stuff, but that songs pretty cool. I think they're Canadian too. Think I might check out their discography.

The frustrating thing about Weezer is theres always still some really promising stuff where you can clearly hear the old magic amongst all of the other crap. But as time goes on it seems like the ratios getting smaller and smaller.

Like a song like this sounds cheesy on the outset, but as you give it a chance and let it progress, by the end you're actually just really enjoying it and it peaks off with the sublime outro and for those moments you forget how shitty a lot of the new output is

if you're doing the weakerthans, Left & Leaving and Reconstruction Site are the two standouts.

Cool, thanks man, I'll check those out. I need something new to get into.

I know exactly what you mean about Cuomos lyrics though. When I listened to songs like No One Else or No other one I was taken by the lyrics and it didn't seem like he was being "geeky" or "cutesy" for the sake of it... People will point out that a song like Undone is just as ridiculous as a lot of the new content, but for some reason he managed to really sell it back then to the point where it didn't feel contrived... Now it's just such an obvious shtick

Fuck yeah, the new weezer songs actually pretty damn good. I was a little worried after I didn't like the first 2 at all, but this song regains my hope

Definitely has sort of a Pinkerton vibe in all the good ways.

On a totally different Weezer note: I just recently came across this B-side from the Raditude era... Figure most people probably haven't heard it but it's a fucking great song. Can't believe they left it off the album. Definitely has a 90's Weezer vibe to it.

Ahhh, just saw from my Youtube serach that it actually was a re-worked song from an old Cuomo demo... Makes sense

No one else is great. It's peak Weezer for me, might be my favorite on the record actually... The fuzzed out feedbacking guitars, beach boy melodies, creepy Rivers lyrics, great vocal harmonies all packed together in a 2 and a half minute punch.

It seems like a fun time. To be honest none of these 'singles' have turned me off of the new album thus far - which I wish I could have said the same for the last 2 albums.

As it turns out I love The White Album, and going back to listen to the previous record, that one is great too.

They stand alongside Blue and Pinkerton, really. Cuomo can write a damn song.

They really are a great fucking band. Perhaps even my favorite of the 90's.

Just listen to the bonus tracks on the Pinkerton Deluxe album and the black hole demo's. Weezer could have put out a better double album follow up to their breakthrough than the Pumpkins.
