So true. Went and bought a 1.5 liter of cheap shiraz instead. And yeah I'll tell I didn't go. I am volunteering for the rest of this week at the shelter and have a counselor meeting scheduled for next week so who needs NA.

filled out my fasfa I'm considered independent because I turn 24 in the year I'd be attending (next year)

didn't think it would work that way but yeah gov is estimating I'd be eligible for probably just over 4k in Pel Grant and then about 9.5k in Stafford loans but I'm not sure if it's the subsidized loans or nah

waiting for confirmation from schoolz though

subsidized or not, you'll have to pay it back. loans aren't free. i do NOT want school loans

neither did I, I was dead set against them, and my plan was to work my way through community college until I was denied the in-district rate doubling my tuition

I can get scholarships at the point where I have some academic achievement to show, just finding it hard to get my foot in the door

btw, i was basically an f student in h.s. who talked my way into ap classes and graduated with a b- average (cause i was smart to offer coming in after school for the last four weeks of the semester)

community college has been real good to me in that it's a second chance. are your parents too rich for you to get fafsa?

fafsa has paid for my schooling except for the first semester out-of-pocket (cause i didn't give myself enough time) and the last covered by student govt.

Last night whilst purchasing wine in Safeway the card chip reader thingy malfunctions. The cashier tells me to swipe it once and insert it in the chip slot three times. So I swipe it three times and insert it once and stand there all bewildered and shit (I was under a considerable amount of stress keeping a lookout for Mitchel & co.). Anyways she had to lead me through the entire process swipe insert insert insert pay.

I was basically a C student because from 14-20 I was feeling terrible everyday

not fair to base so much off years where your brain is half developed

I'm old enough now where fasfa considers me independent and I'm low income (my parents are upper middle class) but I don't think I'll get enough grants

Including rent I need like 18k to complete my associate's

that sucks. i'm graduating with about 20k in loans even though i only got 1k in loans while i was in CC. fasfa covered everything plus got me money back. generally at uni my stuff got covered by fasfa and scholarships (except for 1 semester because I started in the off semester) but i still needed money to live. plus i took extra last semester because i wanted to make sure i had money after school was over so i wasnt stressing too much.

in florida anyway they give you the max subsidized and the rest unsubsidized. it was about 40/60 in my case. sub will save you thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the loan so it's very important. just make sure you file fasfa as soon as it's open

when I took some classes in Cali I ended up dropping out due to really bad depression I was like 18 I didn't have those records transferred ofc

but my professora pulled me to the side and said what's going on you're my best student when you come to class and I really think you have the aptitude to get this degree

Now I ask people if they need a bag
