It's just that I don't think he ever lets that part of himself surface anymore, but it's still there. I think if he did let his morbid/gloomy/whathaveyou tendencies out a bit his music would be a bit better off for it. billy corgan is literally incapable of writing a good song.

he wrote lots of them in the '90s, they were personal, and written with actual emotion, feeling and intent.

now it's all about cash flow, marketing to "the kidz" (apparently he thinks the kidz want run2me), etc. he hasn't written a personal lyric about his own life in 20 years.

of course, if he was to write a song about his own life, it would be about wrestling, alex jones, or how he demands 34/22/22/22, how he stole d'arcy's bass equipment, how he loves trump etc.
