I do know the history (though I only ever heard one demo tape and would be interested in more).
It's just that I don't think he ever lets that part of himself surface anymore, but it's still there. I think if he did let his morbid/gloomy/whathaveyou tendencies out a bit his music would be a bit better off for it. Somehere in the verbal diahhrea that was the Nexus he said DFN was going to have something of a goth music vibe to it (which considering that awful wrestling music promo piece, wouldn't have turned out well at all). You watch him in the Ava Adore video and he's plainly enjoying hamming it up and being Nosferatu. |

billy corgan is literally incapable of writing a good song.
he wrote lots of them in the '90s, they were personal, and written with actual emotion, feeling and intent. now it's all about cash flow, marketing to "the kidz" (apparently he thinks the kidz want run2me), etc. he hasn't written a personal lyric about his own life in 20 years. of course, if he was to write a song about his own life, it would be about wrestling, alex jones, or how he demands 34/22/22/22, how he stole d'arcy's bass equipment, how he loves trump etc. |

You don't think he's written any songs about his kid yet?
What about Diaperz? Auggie-Jupe? |

If Corgan just stopped announcing every time he's gotten an idea for something, people wouldn't be able to call him out for never following through on anything.
Ninety percent of being reliable is just never committing to anything in the first place. If we all made a grand proclamation every time we intended to do something, we'd all look like flakes, too. |

Be like Radiohead: don't announce albums until three days before release. Or three days after, as the case may be. "If you guys haven't noticed, we put an album out over the weekend. You can listen to it, if you want."

Also, be like Radiohead: write music that's actually good.

Those lyrics (and the song) are just bad. They're so bad they make ZWAN lyrics seem good. |

But anyway: Pale Horse was about his mom on dope while hospitalized. It's more like "There doesn't appear to be anything personal on Monuments because nobody is able to figure out what the fuck he's talking about anymore." |

no way in hell anything on monuments is personal. it's complete trash; 9x 3 minute formulaic pop songs with shit vocals and some random fuck on drums

Tommy Lee's drumming was good on MtaE. Not sure what you're whining about.

It's not that off. Half of the songs on that album sound like brainless glam metal songs.

ogilala had a lot of personal lyrics. i really liked it for that reason, for the first time in over a decade he finally sounded like he gave a shit.

"Sometimes Silvery" sounds like the sequel to "Being Beige." God help us all.
