I think it was Titanic

i like the idyllic love story bit and the historic boat bit but i hate the sinking bit. hence 7.5/10

If you prefer a faithful adaptation of the historical drama in which the boat doesn't sink, look no further:

(The boat is saved by a giant octopus, only one of many talking animals with infectious musical numbers.)

Run Lola Run

I liked it, but I think it would've had a larger effect on me if I saw it when it came out/I was a teen.

8/10

Question

The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot

I think the intention here was to take an absurd plot and turn it really quiet and contemplative, but as a result the tone is unpleasantly all over the place

The stuff where Elliot's character is just sort of grappling with what he's done, now that he's near the end of his life, is surprisingly good, good enough that when the plot comes barging in with "Bigfoot is going to end the world!" or whatever, it's just, like, shut up and get back to Eliot being old and sad with his dog

I have no idea what to rate this, sorry

i went to visit my mom for her 70th birthday and we watched a couple movies

parasite: a
ford vs ferrari: b+

i didn't expect to care about ford vs ferrari at all, and for the first 15-20 minutes, didn't care at all. but i gotta say that they really did pull me in. enjoyed it quite a bit and didn't know it was based on a true story until the end

to make things worse: Beanpole is a Russian movie, the word Beanpole is translated Dylda

this gets even more phallic when you realize that the pronunciation of the letters A and O is somewhat interchangeable in Russian.

for a moment there, I started to think the word dildo originated from Russian, which apparently it doesn't.

Unhappy

A vote against women, big or little, is a vote for Trump

The Last Thing He Wanted:

To be fair, I don't always catch all the nuances of the plot in political thrillers, but I and the rest of my audience found this incomprehensible. There are a few times when Hathaway's character gets a piece of seemingly innocuous info and suddenly runs for it, or someone mentions a name I didn't recognize and the music turns ominous, etc. We all got the larger brushstrokes of the plot, but this seemed designed to confuse.

Rating: C, in case I'm just stupid and it's all my fault

Jacob's Ladder (1990)

Still absolutely flawless, soul-crushing and unsettling as fuck. 10/10

I still feel like the ending seems as though it was changed in a script rewrite. I mean, I know it's foreshadowed pretty bluntly by that exchange in the chiropractor's office (which I would assume would be part of the rewrite if the ending is so), but even while viewing that scene, I was like, "no, that can't be the twist of the film—it would undermine so many of the themes they are establishing."

So for me, overall great movie that is marred by its ending.
