i don't see what's so controversial about him calling it the "pumpkins chord"

to me it just implied that he used it a lot and therefore was a pretty good indicator that the song you were hearing was a pumpkins song

people got riled up about that?

his q&a attitude is beginning to make sense

it's amazing how anal retentive so many non professional guitarists are. maybe it's their way of saying "hey i know something."

he mentions that controversy in the MCIS tab book, basically said he was joking in the "hey i use this chord a lot in the pumpkins" kind of way. Hendrix, like, used that G# octave with low E string thing maybe 2% of the time.

but what do i know. a lot, actually.

I think the conflict would have been resolved pretty quickly if Hendrix had just weighed in on the matter, but to this day he hasn't commented

Sounds like it is to me, but the riff is so over-driven and muddied with effects that it's hard to tell.

his immediate mind comes up with the dumbest shit and it's posted immediately. it's pretty incredible. Personally, I don't have an immediate mind, everything takes me loads of time.

It’s a simple fuzz. Try harder.

but yeah, I guess it isn't.... I never listen to Adore at all, in my memory I envisioned it to be high octave chords though.

James and Jeff are playing the octaves separately, so here there is no one single player doing the shape itself. And not totally sure, have to get it in headphones, there’s points where they’re doing unisons. James also hints at points at the lead guitar over dub on the record. Essentially it’s a dual guitar part.

But on adore it’s one guitar playing single notes. If you barely listen to adore, why would you even bother naming this as an example? You were way off the mark. And it’s entertaining the lengths you’ll go to to try and cover up how wrong you are.

Well, my memory was thinking back to that concert footage as that was the last time I'd listened to the song. It's just one of the moments in the concert that I thought sounded really cool so it jumped out in my mind.
