This is a big deal considering Jimmy wished Billy a happy Bday. There should be 24 hour news coverage of this.

He was all fat and bloated while in zwan. It started during the machina tours. He quit smoking at some point between zwan and zeitgeist, and after his heart scare in 2007 I think he started taking his health even more seriously.
People don't look like shit if they take care of themselves. |

The last time Billy mentioned Jimmy's name in a Tweet was a year ago >>> "Billy Corgan @Billy · 28. Mai 2013 A small window into the greatness of Jimmy Chamberlin http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=5i_xoEn2fjI …" A happy birthday Tweet would have been nice but I guess the bromance with Tommy Lee is more important right now... |

The fill at 3:45 is insane also. He uses that same idea on Jellybelly and a lot of his solos. It's so damn good
You can't even hear half the grace notes he's doing during that song |

"Vic's Drum Shop BIRTHDAY WISHES: Jimmy Chamberlin was born today in 1964 in Joliet, Illinois. As the propulsive engine driving The Smashing Pumpkins, Jimmy Chamberlin has earned the respect as one of the most popular and influential drummers of the '90s. Receiving musical inspiration early on from his father and older brother who both played in local jazz groups, Jimmy soon began taking lessons himself under the tutelage of future Yanni drummer, Charlie Adams. This instruction provided the 9 year old Chamberlin with an understanding of the basic fundamentals and rudiments of drumming. Through his teenage years, he went on to study with several other teachers, learning Latin, Brazilian, and big band drumming. After high school, Chamberlin spent the next few years alternating between gigging locally in area bands and working as a carpenter to pay the bills. In August 1988, he witnessed a show at a Chicago club by a fledgling band known as the Smashing Pumpkins. The band, then consisting of singer/guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, and bassist D'Arcy Wretzky, were still utilizing a drum machine on stage. While Jimmy thought there was much room for improvement, he saw potential in Corgan's songwriting. Local nightclub owner Joe Shanahan was also in attendance, and informed the trio that they could play a show at his Cabaret Metro venue with just one stipulation: they must replace the drum machine with an actual drummer. Through a mutual acquaintance, Jimmy was introduced to the group and quickly taken onboard. They soon played their first show as a quartet at the Metro. The Pumpkins eventually went on to become one of the biggest alternative rock groups of the '90s, releasing their acclaimed debut "Gish" in 1991, and then rocketing to superstardom with 1993's "Siamese Dream." With "Siamese Dream" selling by the millions, the Pumpkins capitalized on their newfound success with a long touring schedule that included a headlining position on the 1994 Lollapalooza festival. Jimmy's playing capture the attention of numerous drummers which soon led to a feature story in Modern Drummer Magazine. He was again featured in the magazine shortly before the 1995 release of the monumental double album "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness," an album that revealed many new facets of his playing and showcased his abilities like never before. The band was at the absolute zenith of their popularity, and the album was a huge seller, eventually becoming the biggest-selling double CD of all time. Following the first breakup of the Pumpkins in 2000, Jimmy continued his musical partnership with Billy Corgan in a new project dubbed Zwan. They went on to release a sole album, "Mary Star of the Sea", in January 2003 followed by a major tour. In 2004, both Corgan and Jimmy decided to embark on solo careers. Jimmy's project, known as the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex, featured contributions from such musicians as Rob Dickinson, Billy Mohler, and Sean Woolstenhulme. In 2005 he released his debut, "Life Begins Again." That same year, Jimmy and Corgan once again reformed a new version of the Smashing Pumpkins releasing one album and staying together until 2009. Also in 2009, Jimmy formed another band called Skysaw which he described as "progressive, symphonic pop." Jimmy stayed with Skysaw until 2012. Last year, Jimmy joined forces with saxman extraordinaire Frank Catalano (Miles Davis, Randy Brecker, Elvin Jones, Stan Getz, Von Freeman, Tito Puente, Tony Bennett) to record a new jazz album set to be released this summer. The pair have also been performing live regularly backed by various musicians. This collaboration has enabled Jimmy to reconnect with his jazz roots. Fans of Jimmy's drumming will be delighted to hear him in this new context as he demonstrates a new aspect of his playing. The importance of Jimmy Chamberlin's contribution to drumming cannot be understated. His extraordinarily quick hands, furious snare rolls, and crackling rimshots recall the likes of such drumming greats as Dennis Chambers and Ian Paice. Equally important is his tastefulness and subtlety and is one of the few rock drummers to combine a driving backbeat with jazz-like flourishes. Jimmy is a musician of considerable depth and creativity with a keen ear for nuance, which makes him a glove-like fit for the wide range of material that he has covered throughout his career. When asked about his influences in 2007, Jimmy responded: "Aside from the obvious influences - Keith Moon, John Bonham, Ian Paice - I would have to say Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, any of the jazz greats - Gene Krupa, those people. I think, more and more, as I get older, I've developed my own rock style and I tend to pull more stuff from Elvin Jones and Tony now that I can incorporate it into a rock arena and kind of modernize it." Billy Corgan - "He's up there with Bonham, you know, that level of drummer, who has been able to play a variety of music and have his style impact the way people play drums. That's the hallmark of a great drummer. And, right now, I think, pound for pound, he's the best drummer in the world."
