Insomniacs great. It's definitely my favorite of theirs too. Though I obviously have nostalgic love for Dookie, I think Insomniac has held up a lot better.

Ain't this the truth.

It's easy to look at Dookie with 2019 eyes, but man, that album did with punk something that hadn't been done before. With Dookie they really laid the groundwork for pop-punk and did it with a gen-x/grunge spin.

The record still sounds huge. Rob Cavallo did a great job of producing that group.

lol, yeah they started strong in the 90s w/ that self-titled album (which consequently had two of their best singles ever) but i can't really speak too much for what they did after that

& fwiw, they're still tryin' to be "hip" in the 2010s, to similarly mixed results

I've determined that Billy lost his touch after MCIS

let's be honest about Adore, it was below what we'd come to expect in terms of the magic.

Jimmy leaving, the year-plus or arena touring, it zapped Billy and the band of what they had, ruined their perspective, and its been a downslide ever since. All the badness starts with the lesser quality music and songwriting on Adore.

The media and mainstream fans were correct in ignoring this album. it's stunted by self-importance, a lack of purpose and never gets off the ground.
