I know nobody here likes Kevin Smith
but has anybody watched "Comic Book Men"?
It's a total reality show (nothing happens) on AMC and Netflix about the 4 guys that work in Kevin's comic book store "jay and bobs secret stash" in new jersey. They just hang out and talk about classic comics and entertain people that come in trying to sell stuff. A camera crew comes in and films the shop and eventually they all meet with Kevin Smith to talk about it. You can tell by watching it in bulk that all of the commentary was filmed on the same day. So it's kind of like watching really boring surveillance footage with the directors extended commentary. I really like it. |

One of my favorite programs was "Train Panorama." All you see is a train going through landscapes. It's boring, and perfectly relaxing.

as opposed to when the producers start interjecting "ideas" for the cast members to do every episode.

Space Night is awesome, it's on since 1994, always between 4 and 6 in the morning. NASA and ESA footage with music. http://www.br.de/mediathek/video/sen...night-296.html |

Some episodes of a recent train-travel-landscape thingy are online, but it's either in French or German. I used to re-watch it on mute with music.
And I don't know who Kevin Smith is. If he smells good I'll like him. Morocco |

'Kevin Smith' didn't even ring a bell, shame on me. I blame his surname.

I started listening to the podcast about Jay and Silent Bob which Kevin created as a weekly intervention for Jay (Jason Mewes). They just talk about how fucked up Jay used to be in order to keep him off of drugs. Interesting concept.

Cigarettes. If I'm not at home I can go long periods without smoking. When I'm at home I just eat them.

This guy brought in a killer golden age comic collection on the show but they shop didn't buy them because they were smoke damaged. He had them stored below his cigar shop for 15 years. Makes you think.

I began watching the old '66 Batman series in chronological order. This show is fantastic. The storytelling is so classically basic it serves as a paint-by-numbers guide for writing any sort of action drama. I feel like I'm learning when I watch it. |

I was thinking it would be entertaining to take the basic structure of a Batman episode and notating it like a screenplay and then apply the same elements of pacing and cinematography to a comic book panel.
