I am probably referring to it in the wrong way, but I mean the work of strings (violins, violas, fiddlers, cellos) in a popular music album. Like this:

Metallica's S&M, SFS is a great orchestra.

Did I do something bad here
I thought Metallica was a huge joke to everyone
"thot" is a ridiculous internet acronym that I made my title to make fun of
You're all gonna make me go into sad-sack mode and that's when I'm at my worst here
I think

the only good thing metallica did was and justice for all. they are tools. don't sad-sack mode. they are fucking garbage. through the never might be the worst thing anyone has ever done.

it's nothing earth-shattering but I always loved the strings on Depeche Mode's "Home" on Ultra

Johanna Newsom Ys is pretty great

The strings on Ys got on my nerves because I liked the minimal sound on her previous albums and EPs but the album grew on me a whole lot.

This one isn't even on YouTube, but hey ho. Gorgeous strings.

Some extremely pop pop in there, and some middling indie bands that may surprise you (the string arrangers have more talent), but you asked for strings, so here you go. There was a Travis song on the list originally because of Anne Dudley's string arrangement, but fuck Travis.

Oh, and this one, but the strings only kick in 30 seconds from the end. They're effective when they do, though:

Thank you, I really like that Mansun tracks, and the last one, gonna check those Alisha's Attic, Johanna Newsom and Gavin Bryars, thanks

I love Portishaed, specially their NYC live album, pretty amazing, also the track Depeche Mode is one of my favorites. I'm not a fan of Metallica's S&M though, I don't know why

Anyways, I think "album" was too much (I was heavily drunk btw, not that I'm sober now, but...) these are my last favorite string sections (arrangements? I dunno) on a track:
