Default (Alternate) Adore

I've always wondered whether or not it would have been a complication for Corgan to add both "The End Is the Beginning Is the End" and/or "Eye" to Adore, I feel as if those two tracks could have done a lot in saving the album commercially.

Couldn't he add those to Adore simply because they had already been released as "singles" on earlier movie soundtracks?

Adore should have been a triple album. 180 mins.

the reason TEITBITE and EYE weren't included on adore is explained and discussed clearly in this thread:

I'd like to discuss the topic of your psychology / psychiatry degree. How successfull are you and how does that reflect on the place where you live, your photomodel girlfriend, the bands you play in. Please elaborate.

"Adore" is exactly the maximum lenght that you can fit on a standard CD, so there is no adding tracks without removing others.

I would have no problem with him taking out 17 + Crestfallen.
Feel like Eye + End Is the Beginning would've given the whole album a more cyber-feel to it, while stile maintaining some of the softer acoustic dynamics. I just never got what the reasons were for him leaving the tracks out completely.

Ava Adore is by far the worst song on the album. Why not just take that one off? I don't think Billy's singing has ever been as bad as it is on Ava Adore.

It's not how many tracks you can have, it's the length. You're gonna need to cut more than that.

'98 was a horrible year to release an album. So many bands put out good albums that went nowhere that year. Culture was changing and the record companies were merging. This is the main reason Adore failed.

it failed because not as many people "got it" at first as they had mellon collie & siamese dream

jeez people being more "revisionist historians" in here than bc himself

including eye & end is the beginning coulda been cool i guess but it sure woulda called for a different album than what we actually got

No it failed because the world moved on. In '98 it was Spice Girls, TRL, Korn, and Limb Bizkit.

The revisionism started with Billy ranting about how he was abandoned and the world just didn't get his beautiful perfect art. It's a myth Billy created and has been rambling about for going on two decades now.

Nearly EVERY alternative band lost sales at this point. You can watch the downward trend for this music start in '96.

REM '94 4x, '96 2x, '98 Gold.
Soundgarden '94 4x, '96 2x.
STP '94 6x, '96 2x, '99 1x.
Bush '94 6x, 96 3x, '99 1x.
The Pumpkins 95 5x, '98 1x, '00 gold (I adjusted the MCIS numbers to single album numbers)

All of them identical sales trends as TSP.

It's also a myth that Adore didn't sell well. It went platinum, it's just didn't sell as well as MCIS which went 10x platinum, which is only 5 million copies since it's a double album.

Billy created this myth bitching endlessly about the business and his fans and nobody wants albums anymore.

Seriously it was whiny paranoid bullshit then just as much as it is now.

I remember the Stern interview were he started ranting about fans not accepting his new music and thinking where the fuck is this guy coming from. It was just crap he made up.
