Here's what Brad Wilk has been up to lately >>>

Quote:
The Last Internationale is an American rock band.

The band was formed by New York City guitarist Edgey Pires and vocalist Delila Paz.

In January 2013, they released a 5-song EP titled New York, 'I Do Mind Dying. Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello introduced the band to his bandmate, drummer Brad Wilk, who subsequently joined the band. Their debut album, We Will Reign, was released on August 19, 2014. The album was produced by Brendan O'Brien and Brendan Benson.

The band made their network television debut on August 27, 2014, playing "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Indian Blood" on the Late Show with David Letterman. They will be opening for Robert Plant in the fall to support his Lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar tour.

it will be strange to see "SP" without a female bass player. While not nearly as big a part of the band's sound as for instance, The Pixies, it's one of the reasons I liked SP back in the day. Because they weren't a bunch of "rock guys" on stage.

i think that's part of what's interesting about this

while i'm not sure i can put too much stock in the "machismo" of a member of the killers, having brad wilk in the band'll bring an unrestrained muscle to at least the rock side of things that hasn't been heard since jimmy c called it a day on the sp2

I'm a lot more intrigued with the idea of this than the last tour, which were the first UK dates I've skipped since Machina

Will be trying hard to get tickets, has anyone seen a price yet?

edit - £60 but you have to buy an overpriced LP / normal priced CD too

The Killers rhythm section is super solid. Mark is a great bassist - maybe it's just how my brain hears those songs, but for most, the bass is far more top level than the guitars are.

Brad's a solid drummer too: dude's been around the block.

On the whole, this is an SP lineup I'd travel to see.

this is promising. Stoermer is an apt choice, he's melodic and new-wavey but also hard driving.

Brad Wilk is an intense player with real muscle. Definitely more confident and powerful than Mikey.

That said, I agree that it'd be weird for the band to stay all-male... i think billy should get an awesome girl drummer for the tour.

Another Mark video... this one shows off his bass tone/skill better than the album version of "Jenny..." for sure.

This is the most sensible decision bill has made in a long time.

hopefully this lineup has some chemistry and could potentially even play on DfN... seems like billy, jeff and a drum machine is hitting a wall...

Obviously these guys aren't long-term solutions, but I wonder how the chemistry is going to work between them. Honestly, it's going to be kind of weird seeing this lineup.

I don't think it will translate to recording an album. I think Billy has made it pretty clear that he has a very specific vision in mind and there are very few people that "get" him. He alludes to that being a problem with Nicole and Mike in his latest interview.

I wonder what the setlist will look like, besides the new tracks.
2 weeks of rehearsing with a drummer and a bassist who aren't familiar with any Pumpkins songs. And I guess they scratched backing vocals altogether, that should be interesting.

I'm certainly curious. They may be professional players but two weeks isn't that long. My guess is that the set won't vary from show to show, with the exception of one or two songs, and it'll be relatively short (as opposed to the 2 hours they played for the Oceania tour).

These shows are gonna be fucking good. Will be interesting to hear if they reinterpret any TBK / Oceania songs like Freak or My Love is Winter which were butchered in the studio. One and All and Tiberius are gonna sound great live too.

that's exactly what I'm expecting. looking forward to it anyway, the Berlin venue is small (1000) with a really good sound, I'd rather have 70 minutes that don't blow my ears out in a more intimate setting, than 150 minutes sound torture (as on the 2013 arena tour.)

I'm really fascinated to hear SP5.812 do some classic songs.

On one hand, it only furthers the desecration of a once great band

On the other, it could be pretty respectable sounding, and probably better than Mikey/Nicole/SHREDDER/Bills

Or will it be entirely post-Oceania material?

Assuming the shows are about 70 minutes, I think it will mostly be new songs with several singles and a sprinkling of his favorites. I really don't expect Billy to pull out something completely unexpected. I'll be surprised if he plays more than 2 songs from the TBK/Oceania era.

Totally agree on the JC being back in late 2016 theory. He couldn't go straight back to Jim, he needs a little transition.
