Default Let's talk about television

i have watched more tv this year than any year of my life up until this point. Evenmore than a year ago when I spent two months in bed. I've run out of shows that seem worth watching.

i am so weird and lazy. i didn't really watch or get into anything. it's too much effort and investment to learn characters and settings and things, even if i want to

I learnt to scorekeep baseball which was really fun. Watched old games and kept track.

i've been practicing guitar; from march to now i'm 100x better, i can play along to songs and achieve transitions with pedals, kinda know notes and how to play leads over a song or whatever.

i've been getting into a lot of political podcasts because i hate everything now

i meant to watch that chess show but i didn't, and now it seems already out of the zeitgeist so what's the point, almost

I risked it all by taking Took's advice and checked out an episode of The Good Lord Bird.

It appears to have potential and I shall continue watching. They seem to use some interesting lenses that call There Will Be Blood a little to mind and the Coen-esque comedic tinges work so far.

Oh yes, let’s. I’ve mostly been watching mindless shit (90 day fiancé although that’s getting boring, and now I’ve seen every top chef season except season 1)

The Undoing was kinda bad and campy but I enjoyed it. Nicole Kidman can do no wrong imo

Skipped seasons 1-3 of the crown and jumped into season 4. Pretty good. Gillian Anderson and Olivia Colman both great

I assume you’ve watched Chernobyl and watchmen but if not do that ASAP.

Ummmm. Yeah I think I’m actually watching less quality tv this year because my brain just can’t take it at this point.

Haunting of Bly Manor is my favorite show this year, the whole mood and vibe they created is incredible to me.

Queen's Gambit is also incredible. Anya Taylor-Joy is an incredibly underrated actress.

Mandalorian Season 2 has been entertaining so far, and while I think it does some things better than season 1, it just doesn't have the same novelty.

I like that The Queen's Gambit is basically based on/inspired by Bobby Fischer who may or may not have been that guy that used to post The Jewish Question and other conspiracies on here

I also am not feeling Mandalorian as much in season 2 as the first season. And with so many SW shows now announced for next year, i think i am going to get burn out from it all the way i did on Marvel movies, which i can't even watch anymore.

I liked Euphoria on HBO a lot. It has a lot of weird problematic shit, owing to the fact that a cis het guy created it, but the good overrides the bad by a lot.

On Netflix earlier this year I watched Feel Good, which i thought was great.

Other shows I liked this year:

Wynonna Earp - the show was almost ended but fans helped get the new season made.

Star Trek Discovery season 3 - much better than the first two seasons. more like classic Trek

His Dark Materials season 2 - i thought S1 was just ok. But i am liking season 2 much more

Great British Baking - not as good as previous seasons, but reliable entertainment

Yeah they're flooding us with too much Star Wars stuff... none of it sounds all that interesting to me. The Kenobi show I was tentativelly on board but them announcing they'll be having a rematch of Kenobi/Anakin severely soured my expectations.
