Case in point; this live performance on Fallon. She should hire an actual production company to help her build a live production the matches the level of her music. IMHO, she should have NIN-level stage visuals.

I think the things you're criticizing her for contribute to her music/act being quality

Don't get me wrong, I loved this aesthetic during her earlier albums. I just feel like her live show sucks for where she's at now.

Six years ago Grimes did a show at Melissa Auf der Maur's Basilica and got interviewed by her:

Out of her mind: Melissa Auf der Maur and Margret Thatcher...

MADM sounds completely mad - but that was great to hear Grimes talk about her influences (esp. Manson!). I hadn't actually really listened to her until this thread, and been enjoying the hell out of her last few albums. Thanks!

This is such a cool way to perform, though. I like how she does live vocal loops and stuff

funny to hear SP fans, after 18 years of uninnovative shit music, make fun of Grimes

It really warms my heart to see so much Grimes love. She makes me feel fuzzy inside. Hopefully she breaks up with Elon Musk soon

If Grimes actually did an SP remix I would absolutely die. DIE. And it would be the best production on something by Billy Corgan in 20 years

I am not in favor of her or that style of "music" so I guess maybe that comes off as making fun? I dunno. I find it pretty shocking that a fan of the first wave of SP would be into this "artist." I am finding it awfully difficult to find anything redeeming about her output. Mind you, I've only had a two hour crash coarse in her music via YouTube. It sounds like the music my thirteen year old niece makes with her first MIDI controller and a pirated Kontakt library. Everything about this style of music is just so artificial and generic to my ears. The fact that Art Angels has a Metacritic score of 88 makes me never want to value their opinion again. I could go on, but its just one of those things that I will never understand.

For all the hate Run2Me gets its sounding like a Grimes A-side at this point.

You know someone is serious about artistry and music when they use inverted commas to referring to an artist and their music, to boldly imply that they don't consider them to be real artists making real music.

You are absolutely correct in your assumption on my usage of quotations. I am using them in their most natural form, to differentiate my opinion from theirs.

isn't Metacritic an aggregate of all critics?

I was under the assumption that they are an aggregate, but also function as a collective voice. So saying that I did or didn't trust "their" opinion would still be somewhat accurate.

speaking of 13-year-olds, you sound like me talking about music when I was 13.
