Growing up, we would always go to the county fair on tractor pull night. I remember at some point, when they wanted to take the super modified class even further, dudes started strapping jet engines on vehicles.

Rockets on a school bus? Makes perfect sense!

Most of the tractor pulls outside of county fair shows were just super slow, super boring antique pulls. My dad participated in that for maybe 7-10 years but stopped when he felt it "got too political".

There was a half mile paved racetrack near my high school. we used to go to the races on weekends. The thing i remember most about it was how drunk all the young boomer parents would get. Like really really drunk. Worse than the Detroit Lions games i went to as a kid.
