Apart from all the times since 96 they did return to fuzzy guitars and solos, but on bad songs with terrible bald vocals?

I am going with you as far as it was refreshing at least, to hear something different and not so dumb as MTAE and Shiny. The production is also way better.
The production is better because it's all digital crap.

these animated videos are complete bullshit.

bill doesn't seem to get on with the times very well and realize that in order to reach a large audience like he ever so desires, he needs to keep it SHORT, EFFECTIVE AND SIMPLE. so no billiam, hammering your audience with 5 epic animated film shorts made out of dense obtuse imagery is surprisingly not the answer, and will not get you popular.

and it's all so stupid and insincere anyway, all this aiming for a goth audience because that's who he thinks we are and what we want.

the song actually starts out pretty well and has this cool Tilt-esque groove. i was drawn to it for the first 40 seconds

...then the song goes nowhere and stays the absolute same for the next 4 mins, with bill piling on the lyrics which speak about parental abuse or something i'm sure

So the site I follow for HD tracks updated all the song lengths tonight. Has this been known yet?

Nay, but makes complete sense. Remember people on here were trying to do math and saying there was a chance for some longer + more pumpkin-y songs.

Hard to believe there was a time when we'd be anxiously awaiting an SP release with 20 songs. After hearing the first 6 songs it seems like this will be a chore to get through in the same way Cotillions was. I expect a few good songs and moments much like that album, but probably overstays its welcome in the same way. I'm not sure I relate to his songwriting at all any more. Musically, lyrically, vocally, it just doesn't resonate with me. Sorry Bill we've grown apart.

As such, each track is just start loop then finish loop.

Oh fuck no, this singing style is so bad and so unconfortable.
I opened netphoria after the first 30 secs of this song to come write this. This is a roller coaster but always way down.

This would've been ok as a 10 - 12 track album, but as houseofglass said it's going to be hard work getting through all 20 songs in one sitting. Unless, of course, there's something different on the other tracks. But from this distance it doesn't look like it.

Saying that, the new songs are OK, vocals are better mixed, less vibrato, and I like the bass riff on Anno Satanna. Definitely a drum loop but that could be James on guitar, who knows.

A lot of you are pathetic middle-aged assholes looking for validation for picking on Billy. Just facts.

yeah this came out of nowhere for me. I had completely given up years and years ago. shiney was the first album i listened to since zeitgeist (cos of james) and it totally sucked. after that i thought billy would never make anything good again.

and now this? fuck yeah. lol.

ANNO SANTANA

Oh, did you know I'm a wanted man
Steeped in black, where the sun won't pass
I never needed anyone, no.

Your house must flame
Hell must ___
You're feeling ___ and down
Surrounds you with time
We'll miss the line
In wait

The lord knows, I've been going fast
On 7 6
Low on ___
I never needed anyone, no!

The sun goes sleep
Death will change your heart
And feeling ___ down
Surround you with time
___ in line
You wait

_
Thy name
___
To sage
I'm feeling __ and down
And surrounds you

Here he comes
Here comes the wanted man
So step back
Where the words don't last
I never needed anyone, no!

Your house will change
How the hell destroy you
You're feeling - and down
Surround you with time
You'll miss the line
In wait

____

BIRCH GROVE
I've seen the time without me
___ like trees, I've stood
for so long
So long

Shading life
Beside the falling rain
All alone
In love with age
And someone
Someone else

Sundays come and Sundays leave
Sundays ___ wing just stand with me
But someone
And someone else

My ceiling is broke and
And home is whatever ground they hold
Shading life
Beside the falling rain
All alone, in love with age
And someone
Someone else

But I grew stronger
As someone
As someone
As someone else

Shading life
Beside the falling rain
All alone, in love with age
And someone
Someone else

Sundays come and Sundays leave
Sundays ___ won't just stand with me
But someone
And someone else

As my ___ grow and grow
Towards someone
Towards someone else

The birch grow as forests

It’s hilarious to me that a 50 year old guy who peaked in 94 is making music he thinks the kids want to hear that’s literally just a drum loop based fake 80s rock that Drab Majesty does better

Dot in the Sky is a million times better than anything Corg’s released since SIYL.

Exactly. That's the point. He's trying to make Drab Majesty music and failing spectacularly.

Why do none of these songs evolve? They just do the same thing for 3 minutes and then end.

there are some glimmers of hope for me [maybe hope is the wrong word] - Knights of Malta live is so good, and i totally buy into the....weird SP 2020 billy corgan tea spirituality tarot card WE'RE GONNA FLY FOREVER vibe

but then every studio record is this horseshit

++++

it's so glaringly bad. i wonder if he's actively trying to do this as a fuck you - remember that guitar world article? talking about writing geek and how he resets the sound to keep the song interesting.

I mean, I guess if you take out 1991-2000 and go from pre-Gish to TFE I guess one can squint and sort of hear it but these are all the same song. Hard to imagine him slaving over these songs.

This is coming from the guy who has like 75 guitars overdubbed or whatever in Ruby, spent take after take trying to get the vocals right on BWBW etc.

Would be fun to have Netphorians write and record songs in the Cyr form just to see how close we can get
