joy formidable (something epic like porcelina)
pains of being pure at heart (something poppy like today)
dum dum girls (something poppy like 1979, even)
tamaryn (something slow and melancholy like 33)
no joy (something with extended jamming like silverfuck)

Swans - deconstructed version of Silverfuck

Not that swans should waste any time with sp covers

i think so far the winner of the thread is the tom waits - stumbeline cover

i can just hear that gravelly voice crankin out "bordom's in the bathroom shakin out loose teeth"

i think that's one of bill's best songs lyrically, so evocative and impressionistic

I'd also like to hear a band with a lead singer that has a particularly deep voice to cover SP. Today in the style of the United Centre/final Metro shows, done by The National would sound great, I think.
These are retarded suggestions. Do you even listen to music?

Did you read what I said about the late 2000 live version of Today? And the deep voice?

I've only heard a handful of songs by them, but I think they'd definitely do that song justice.

And upbeat SP songs are not rare. Everyone just focusses on how many dark and depressing songs there are.
