I thought "Children of Men" was terrific.
I watched "Scent of a Woman" the other night on TV. |

Hey Trots,
I had the exact same misgivings as you before I watched Children of Men. The best thing about it is a few skillfully executed action set pieces that are well worth seeing. I enjoyed the film but it is in no way the classic that some people are making it out to be in my opinion. |

El Topo B+
Found an hilarious customer review of this on amazon entitled pretentious twaddle: "John Lennon loved this film, and he married Yoko Ono and allowed the Plastic Ono Band to roam the earth. Enough said. You'd have to have the brain of a seriously over-drugged teenager or to have grown mentally feeble reading Sight and Sound too much to find this fascinating. Leave it to the art house circuit. " The Holy Mountain A Spectacular visual accomplishment The Fountain B - Enjoyed this mostly but the strokes were a little too broad at times. This is England A Outstanding performance from the main kid. Beautiful story skillfully told. Manages to be heartbreaking, funny violent and touching. Hey D. How come you didn't like this? |

I watched Children of Men and immediately after I was somewhat blown-away.
Then after a few days of thinking about it and pondering it I realized there was a lot of stuff I didn't like about it. Immediately after I would have given it like a A- but now thinking about it it's like a B. |

i don't remember that movie very well but i remember an older man in glasses that was saying interesting shit
i really hated the shit out of Waking Life though. The amount of tools who kept telling me that it would change my life was really astounding. "HEY MAN HAVE YOU TRIED LUCID DREAMING" "Yes I keep trying to direct my dreams to involve me kicking Richard Linklater in the nads for making such a crappy movie but it didn't work." |

I can only say so much because as I've said, it's an important film to me and I do really like it. But I can see why others wouldn't.

I watched that scene a couple of times to see if/where it was edited but it's mainly one extremely long and intense camera shot. Incredible. |

i never met a dame yet that didn't know if she was good-looking or not without being told, and there's some of them that give themselves credit for more than they've got.
-i like when he says that to her- :[ |

In total agreement, the camera work in the last 20-30 minutes of the movie was beyond intense. |
