Last said they’ll release a single (Solara) in May, video shot and EPs before and after tour. Tour rehearsals look to have already begun as well.

Why are you so bothered by it anyway? Chances are it's gonna be an ok song at best, and it's not like they need to rehearse for 6 months to play a greatest hits tour either.

I think it's just the absence of anything resembling fanfare with the "reunion" that is disappointing people.

Smashing Pumpkins haven't done a good job of generating any hype. There's obviously time to kick it into overdrive but it almost feels like the band is begrudgingly entering this venture. I mean heck, James Iha hasn't said a peep about rejoining the band. You'd figure he'd at least give a rah-rah statement regardless of if it's sincere or not.
