I like to put on classical music while taking tub baths.
Makes me feel like a serial killer.

I wish I could take tub baths but unfortunately tubs seem to be designed for hobbit-folk so only like 35% of my gangly frame can be submerged.

so even if say some day i stumble upon buzzard having a guinness in a pub watching a cricket match with george rr martin and i set martins beard afire and they both die from smoke inhalation buzzards immortal spirit of flame shall endure within the confines of arda.
My Tolkien knowledge is all from distant memory believe it or not. I haven't read Tolkien in about a decade, but there were a solid few years in my teens where I absorbed his work like a sponge, and now the mythology of Middle-earth is burned into my brain forever.

I am the servant of the secret fire, wielder of the flame of Anor

May the light of the blessed trees shine on you forevermore, may the sheen of Varda's stars light your life-path!

And we should really find a way to trade buzzard for vixnix's dad. i think that would be a vast improvement.

I'll only watch the cricket if it's a one-dayer that Australia is going to lose to us (which happens about as often as you bathe), I'll only order Guinness if there's nothing else and I've got no plans for tomorrow that an upset stomach can fuck with (the last such occasion occurring no more recently than a couple of years ago), and I didn't like Martin's writing enough to read beyond the first book (though I guess this isn't necessarily a reason to avoid spending time with him if he treats me right).

I'll be waiting.

I wash my armpits weekly and while doing my last 44 days in jail for a dirty thc urine drop I read all the Cersei chapters in three or four martin books.

she's pretty scintillating.

Good stuff. First of the renowned Hainish Cycle.

Abase yourselves, mortal vermin.

No I've never read her to answer your question Took. Really worth it? I don't go for fantasy a lot

The Left Hand of Darkness yes. That is worth it. But maybe not if you're not into fantasy. I didn't realize at the time how long it was since you read Tolkien.

the thing with fantasy for me is that I read Tolkien early on, and he did it best and biggest, and it's just a very long shadow to stand in.

Indeed. His is the most complex and extensive world by far.

But at the same time I need to calm down. I am a little to self-absorbed (I blame the hair). Need to stop assuming that everyone ought to share my idiosyncratic tastes. And by idiosyncratic I mean weird (eldritch?).

last night i was searching for a poem about hair that was written by bauldelaire and i came across this website https://www.poemhunter.com/poems/hai...36434/#content full of good poems. there is an autoplay function that reads the poems that can be funny, too, if you're into that.

i asked tim to pick a poem about sleep to listen to based on its title and he chose one by a spanish poet

Has My Heart Gone To Sleep? - Poem by Antonio Machado

Has my heart gone to sleep?
Have the beehives of my dreams
stopped working, the waterwheel
of the mind run dry,
scoops turning empty,
only shadow inside?

No, my heart is not asleep.
It is awake, wide awake.
Not asleep, not dreaming—
its eyes are opened wide
watching distant signals, listening
on the rim of vast silence.

And then he looked it up in spanish and read it to me:
¿Mi corazón se ha dormido?

¿Mí corazón se ha dormido?
Colmenares de mis sueños,
¿ya no labráis? ¿Está seca
la noria del pensamiento,
los cangilones vacíos,
girando, de sombra llenos?

No; mi corazón no duerme.
Está despierto, despierto.
Ni duerme ni sueña; mira,
los claros ojos abiertos,
señas lejanas y escucha
a orillas del gran silencio.

Here is one about hair we listened to in English and that I read out loud in Spanish

Pablo Neruda– Anhelo Su Boca, Su Voz, Su Pelo

Translation:

I Crave Your Mouth, Your Voice, Your Hair
by Pablo Neruda

I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair.
Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets.
Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day
I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps.

I hunger for your sleek laugh,
your hands the color of a savage harvest,
hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails,
I want to eat your skin like a whole almond.

I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body,
the sovereign nose of your arrogant face,
I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes,

and I pace around hungry, sniffing the twilight,
hunting for you, for your hot heart,
like a puma in the barrens of Quitratue.
