1. Do you remember when, why and how you got interested in feminism or the first time you realized that "there's something wrong"?
2. Are you straight, be or lesbian?
3. Do you have siblings?
4. Are you going to vote?
5. If you could ask God or whatever all-knowing entity one question - what would it be?

Is there ever anything that should not be joked about? If so, what and why?

you're not on any lists anymore

1. I've never really cared for the way men talk to me or interact with me and the girls/women I knew, and I think I started calling myself a feminist without too much hesitation in my teens. I didn't really talk about feminism or thoroughly internalize anything because I didn't actually relate to or like any of the typical feminist media I came across. Not until I discovered radical feminism which was only like a year ago now (aha). The moment I knew something was wrong when my friends and I were trying to buy weed in high school and we had to wait in the car for our male friend to meet the dealer because he wouldn't sell to females.

2. straight

3. I have a 21-year-old brother I grew up with as well as a 30ish half-sister I've never met because she was put up for adoption at birth.

4. I'm going to vote on more local issues, but not in the presidential election.

5. "What should I do?"

There is no topic that shouldn't be joked about. It's really a question of who or what is the butt of the joke, and what is the message.

I don't know much. Her name is Michaeline, she lives/lived in Nebraska... also she wrote to my mom about 10 years ago but I don't know what the letters said and my mom definitely doesn't like to talk about it. I would like to meet her, though it'll never happen. My family connections are very few, pretty much just my mom and brother, so I value them.

what is your favorite band of favorite bands? who is your favorite
dead artist? favorite living artist?

is it okay that i feel threatened by feminism because it is mostly man hating even though i understand and wore the tshirt and understand there is never ever going to be a middle ground and will always be us (you) vs. them (me). and i'm okay with that and love kathleen hannah and patty shcemel and hate amanda palmer? that isnt a question, more a statement.

favorite band is hard these days because I don't really listen to bands so much. the Cure is a strong contender, definitely top 3, so there's that

my favorite dead artist is probably Matisse

favorite contemporary artist changes more but right now I'm feeling Song Dong

and it's definitely okay for you to find feminism threatening, that means you've been exposed to some legit feminism.

even though dworkin is (i think?) a radfem shes a big enough name that shes kind of entry level and who else should i be reading
thats kind of a question at least
also i might have asked you about this before in a xanax haze

i have a few books from the online open course ware MIT thing but a few of them are really big on queer nonsense which like. i mean maybe this is bigot stuff coming from a position of privilege but a lot of it seems like straight white people just calling themselves something that allows them to feel more special
am i an idiot for that last sentence

like three weeks ago

pretty much anyone who approaches me with an excessive amount of vitriol, faux outrage or manipulation. i don't have an actual list in my head, but there are quite a few people here who i won't bother with anymore in terms of explaining myself or really discussing anything too heavy.

i still wouldn't vote for president

i never tire of yosoy's trots assault

Most feminists are scary and rabid. The women on Jezebel are a good example of some of these people. Men are okay tho when they want to get knocked up. Otherwise all men are cheating, assholes, or rapists. Yea and they feel a need to talk about their monthly cycles and discuss how their tampons sit up inside of their vaginas.

no you are right about the queer thing. straight people have been folded under the queer banner it's pretty ridiculous. and the queer theory approach to gender is completely incompatible with radical feminism.

Sheila Jeffreys is who everyone needs to read, she's brilliant and she's contemporary. unfortunately her books are harder to find but I am pretty sure someone put them online so I will try to find those links.

i can't decide if i really am just an idiot or i just decided i was one to be more comfortable
i mean i have a million books on left wing politics but if i'm ever supposed to offer a real opinion it never goes beyond "hiyooooooo" because i get uncomfortable
ugh
sorry i'm going into what should be in my own thread but i mean i'm self obsessed and cant really talk about anything else
im trying but i recognize my limitations as a real fully integrated member of society you know what im saying

Feminists are too butch for me. I like my women soft and sweet, and pleasing.

the cure. yes. i am aging and i still listen to and relate.

i am really into rothko.

i have been exposed to feminism i feel ass threatening and unfair. which is just as bad as bro-ism. so i think i understand, it makes me want to stand up and fight, and shut up and cocoon into a ball at the same time.
so
i think i understand feminism from a certain standpoint of getting that you can fuck up my world with as much vigor and testosterone fueled blindness as a dude which i guess is humbling but still wrong in my brain. no one had figured anything out and i resent anyone who claims to have sorted out any madness. madness and confusion can go on forever. im cool with that.
