Thumbs up joe pernice's projects

my roommate recently introduced me to his stuff. this man has a great voice, great lyrics and lovely arrangements.

my favourite so far is the chappaquiddick skyline cd. lovely from the opening line on. couldn't stop listening to it for two weeks.

the new pernice brothers record is great, and my roommate just handed me the two previous records. i'm really loving the last track and title track on overcome by happiness.

anyway, they're touring and i think i'll check out the toronto gig, as it's only 10 bucks.

any other avid listeners on the board? any smart remarks, best looking fez?

oh i love him. i remember thinking long ago that you would like them cuz they are similar to red house painters in that lush melancholy way.

go see them live. they are just as good live as they are on cd. joe is a sweet man and you can tell he really loves what he does. his book of poetry is pretty neat too.

this is precisely what my roommate said before he handed me the chappaquiddick cd.

it's like a poppier version of rhp kind of. i still like my koz better. though i probably won't have to sit through kiss covers when i see pernice brothers.

Thumbs up

most everything he touches is pure gold (although some of the earlier scud mountain boys stuff doesn't quite hold up for me)

i've been playing the new album pretty much constantly since it was released. i'm really loving the subtle dream pop/smiths/cure-ish vibe. 'sometimes i remember' sounds like it's going to turn into a cover of 'in-between days' at any minute...

i'm so pissed i'm going to be out of town when they come here
