What bands that are often highly regarded can't you get into?
For me, Metallica.

The title seems strangely phrased...
but i'll say the Doors. I've tried numerous times. |

Metallica, Rolling Stones, Pixies... not to say that i don't like a few stones and pixies songs, but i've never understood what the big deal was in either case.

I don't know what I'd do with myself without the Pixies... but I have had a hard time getting into the Decemberists, Rolling Stones, and Depeche Mode. There are others, I'm sure I'm missing.

Metallica's 80s catalogue, especially Ride the lightning and Master of puppets, is VERY highly regarded. Just about every other metal band cites Metallica as the main reason they started a band. Along with Sabbath.
To answer the question: Pink Floyd. It feels like such a task to sit through even Dark Side Of The Moon. I do like a handful of their better known songs such as Money and Comfortably Numb. Same with Pulp. |

Animal Collective I guess. Although I've only heard the latest album I think.
I mean it's neat and all but eventually it just started to make me want to kill people. |
