oh, i see where you're going with this. not a conservative because of how he spends, etc.
but in terms of a lot of social, ethical, etc. issues he's very conservative.

I'll tell you want: I can tell you're itching for the upper hand in this conversation, and I'm fucking tired. So you tell me why he ISN'T conservative. I will be all ears tomorrow when I read this.

elitist liberal conceit?

when anne coulter (rich priviliaged self-proclaimed know-it-all) and her very wealthy elitist friends say things like "elitist liberal conceit" it's a well-proven tactic to thwart attention from real issues like a life and money draining, unpopular war.

bitching about the powerless as if oneself (a neocon) were (the party with absolute control) powerless against the (actually powerless) "liberal elite" is what leads to this crap:

"If the members of the commission could not connect dots that are all too obvious – or recognize their staff’s inability to do so – it seems likely that their work will fall short in other important areas as well." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,123124,00.html

there is far more talk from the party in control about what liberals or democrats or independents SAY than there is discussion and tactical planning for the state of war that will affect us all. history's great leaders weren't men who whined and bemoaned the minority - they were people of action and real leadership who didn't have to bother with meaningless restated talking points. they rallied their countrymen and women behind them because they worked for the betterment of all of their lives, not just the lives of loyalists and ass kissers.

No, he isn't.

Jesus Christ, for once I wish more of you would look at what someone does and not what someone says.

Bush has more in common with Jimmy Carter than he does with Pat Buchanan. He's closer to FDR than he is to Reagan.

I guess both sides believe what someone says over what someone does.

BAAA fucking BAA

You're really just dancing around it, Nimrod.

Pretty much everything Bush does with domestic social issues panders to his hard right Christian base.

No, the things he says he wants to do to mobilize his base are very socially conservative. Most of the things he winds up doing, however, are not.

His spending is most certainly not conservative. Fiscally, the difference between him and Carter is tax and spend vs. defecit and spend.

thanks for pointing out the obvious.

if you're gonna compare those two dweebs on that issue, Bush comes out worse, much worse.

I would really like to know how calling someone who believes in following strict party lines a sheep and dissing Bush and Carter in the same sentence is "consevative conceit." Please Brendan, educate us all with your vast knowledge.

Dissing Bush and Carter in the same sentence isn't bipartisan or intellectual it's just easy.

Of course it's easy. Doesn't make it an example of conservative conceit.

I'm not trolling. You're conceited. You think you're so much more mature and clever than the typical university liberal. Which is what conceit and being condesending is all about. I wouldn't care if you didn't deny it up and down.
