Being Beige Performance tonight on German TV (PRO 7, 22.15, Ciircus Halligalli)
Coming directly from the studio. Pumpkins iwll perform "Being Beige" tonight at PRO7 Circus Halligalli (at the end of the show):
http://www.prosieben.de/tv/circus-halligalli The Pumpkins should play at the end of the recording, but they got in time trouble (Paris is calling), so they performed the song in the middle of the recording. Sorry for my bad English. |

This is like WWMM all over again, isn't it? Are the mormons going to be there again?

Itīs a normal performance (in an awful suit). Unfortunately they did no interview, this would have been very funny, since the show is know for itīs strange interviews. They were soundchecking this song a lot today. I really liked the performance, even if I would have prefered Tiberius or Monuments or Drum+Fife.

They should have released Drum+Fife as the lead single.

Can't he afford a stylist? If he's going to appeal to the lowest common denominator with a shitty pop album - the least he can do is try to look the part.

He's wearing some unusual attire during this Euro tour but at least he's wearing clothes that fit him now. At least he unbuttoned the top of his shirt this time, unlike the tablecloth he was wearing for the Berlin show.

Awful. His voice is shot and the song doesn't work without the backing vocals. Why don't they have someone on the keys? It was okay back in the day when they didn't need them but from MCIS on, there should be a keyboardist on every SP tour

they played an exhausting gig the night before this was recorded, for that it doesn't sound bad to me at all.
definitely prefer live versions of Being Beige to the album track. (not surprising, of course. all 5 of the MTAE songs they played so far sound better than on the album.) |

The song sounds a lot better without the acoustic guitar. This is how it should have been on the record. Also it just occurred to me the opening is very close to one of those Tonight Tonight bsides forget which but yeah.
The performance is ok except the vocals. And it also occurred to me this sounds like modern U2, well the chorus and ending. Radio generic. |

like if you went to a bar and heard somebody singing karaoke like this you would need another tall boy to make it tolerable

he did alright. the ending was a bad choice. should have just done 'the world's on fire' the entire time, maybe end on 'until im ready on sunday', but saying every day is just weird without the other vocals
i mean his vocals are pretty shit but he does appear to have feeling behind them, which is more than i can usually say. would have liked to hear him try to hit that high 'be the one', but he doesnt appear to be able to. which is shitty since he just recorded it a few months ago. its different when its some really old song or whatever. vocals get progressively worse through the song. meh, i think it was an ok performance. |

rivers cuomo is 44 and he sounds infinitely more like his younger self when compared to corgan
yes yes weezer sucks etc but his vocals actually have some life. corgan sounds like his stomach is being stepped on and air is escaping from his belly |

the song is so horrifically repetitive as is and without the counterpoint melody it's even worse. he should have someone singing backup or playing the melody on guitar or avoid relying on them in the studio altogether if they're not planning on doing them live.

Is he looking skinnier?
the song sounds way better than on the album. Almost like a machina outake? I'll have to listen again. |

even if he's looking skinnier he probably has a good 30 lbs to lose. that means 12-15 weeks of determined weight loss.
not that it matters much. he could weigh 700 lbs if he made another good album. |
