Default there’s something profoundly lonely about meticulously landscaped spaces

i suppose it’s to do with the artificiality of it all

you know why skyscrapers often look appeasing?

you can see the blue sky reflecting in them

You may come home from groc. shopping one day, and have ice cream that is quickly liquefying in your car, now that you have turned off the A/C and the heat of the Sydney summer is flooding in through your open driver's door. As you pull into your driveway you notice a well-worn white Toyota van is already parked there, the back door left ajar. As the hour passes with you plotting your escape, using only your terrible conversation skills and feeble minded excuses, your groundskeeper will regale you with many tales - of meeting Cliff Richard; of working for an insurance company for 20 years; of working with his father on the large estates of the English countryside; of ways to gather in your hens at the end of the day; of what rabbits are most often digging for, of different topical creams that may be of use in ameliorating the large welts that the mosquitos will create as they feast on any inch of bare flesh, as you stand next to your open car, knowing the ice cream will now be no good.

Please, be assured, there is nothing lonely about having a groundskeeper.

I really miss that guy, actually. I'm nearly crying now, just remembering him.

I feel a 'getting jiggy with the groundskeeper' joke should be made at this point.
