Are you serious? That's hilarious. I never heard that. No wonder it sounds like shit.

It's mind blowing that Corgans even bothering with that kind of bush-league approach after he's played with a world-class drummer like Chamberlin for all these years.

I wonder if the guy ever even had anything to announce or if he just wanted to see if he could still get people talking about him for a period of time.

yea there's an article or two somewhere where both he and mikey talk about how the drums went down. one of them is kind of funny because mike is so clueless and going on about what billy did with the e-drums.

Lol what a joke. The drums are some of my biggest issues with Oceania. They just sound so sterile and weak and it affects the rest of the music. It just doesn't "mesh".

You hear Zeitgeist and the music sounds tight and throbbing.

most of the ostinato drumming is live http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostinato like the pounding toms in the title track

haha seriously?!

That's hilarious.

I've helped out in studios before and this is what producers/engineers do with with shit drummers in order to make things easier for them.

"forget about any of the cymbal hits, just play the basic, steady rhythm and we'll add in the cymbals later"

you can hear electronic bass hits about once every 4 bars in every song. they sound like miniature doom explosions. those are programmed drums to keep things steady.

acoustic kit being the toms/ostinato style i was referring to

This is how the drums for Songs for the Deaf were recorded.

As for Oceania's drums, I didn't know that it was electronic drums, but I've also heard that the drum tracks were heavily chopped and edited.

Not that Siamese Dream's drum tracks weren't also heavily edited, though that was with tape.

I hope Pitchfork do a scathing write-up on this.

"Billy makes announcement of announcement. Fails to deliver. Again."

Fucker deserves it.

Well, it's pretty obvious that this news isn't of the magnitude of which we were all hoping. If that were the case Corgan would have been ecstatic to post the news and would have done so in a timely fashion.

It probably is just some announcement about He, Byrne, Jeff, Nicole playing a support stage on Lolla or something.
